"Leo! Leo, I'm cold. Come snuggle with me. I made hot chocolate~" Niko whined from his comfortable spot on the bed, his eyes locked on the door. He was wrapped up in several layers of thick clothing and blankets, both of his hands occupied by two cups of cocoa that had steam rising from them. He grinned when he saw his lover come into the room from wherever he had been.
No matter how many times he saw that face, Niko never got old of admiring Leo's beauty. He loved Leo's shining green eyes and his brightly-colored blonde hair. He couldn't wait to be able to run his hair through that pretty hair of his.
"Love, you know I have to work outside today," Leo said with a small smile on his face. He sat beside Niko, continuing. "I can't keep you warm for as long as I'd like to."
"Oh, I know, Leo~ But come snuggle with me for a moment, okay? You're like a personal portable fireplace!" Niko chirped in delight. Leo laughed at him, taking a mug from Niko. He curled up beside him, taking a sip of the warm drink. "How very reassuring to know my husband thinks of me as a pit of fire." -
Tess loved the ocean- Adored it, really. Even now, in the dead of winter, there was no place he'd rather be. He loved standing behind the wheel as the ship rocked and his men scurried around the deck, adjusting sails, tightening ropes, looking into the distance at the small island they were headed for. This was what Tess lived for.
They reached the island in record time, dropping anchor a half a mile out, lowering their row boats into the forever rolling sea. Tess was on the first one of five, leaving half his crew to watch over the ship. He never rowed himself, but stood at the stern of the small boat until they glided onto the sand. He threw himself over the edge, and glanced around, inhaling the air filled with the sent of evergreens and livestock. "Take whatever you want," He told his men, grinning at them over his shoulder. "Coins, food, valuables, women. Kill whoever you please." With that, he took off towards a house set apart from the others, the only one that he sparked his interest. -
"Well, you are my pit of fire," Niko insisted. "But you're a good pit of fire."
"And there's a bad pit of fire?" Leo asked.
"Of course there is." He took a long drink, and ended up getting a chocolate mustache above his lip. Leo noticed the mustache and leaned over Niko. He gently licked it off of his lover's face for him. "Well I'm glad I'm the good kind, you silly boy."
The two were silent for a moment, just sitting there with their bodies close together. Niko was extremely happy. Why, without Leo, he didn't know what he would do, because Leo was his everything. They had been together for five years now, and he hoped it'd stay that way for a longer time.
When Leo finished his cocoa, he pecked Niko on the lips and arose from the bed. As he grabbed his coat, he said, "I'll come back in soon, okay? Today's job just planting flowers." He left the room, leaving Niko alone.
When Leo went outside, it took him a minute, but he saw someone nearing the house. He wasn't sure who or what it was- they weren't yet close enough to make out all of the details- but he knew they haven't planned for any visitors to come. He stood there, dangerously waiting for that person to get closer. As soon as the oerson's clothing came into view, he was quick to go straight back into the house. He stumbled into the bedroom. "NIKO! Go to the bathroom and open the window. If I yell for you to, I want you to run. Run as fast as you can." "Why, Leo?" "Pirates." "..B-But what about you?" "I'll follow right behind. But I should say hello to our guest first, shouldn't I? Now please, go!" Leo shoved him towards the bathroom that faced the backside of the house. He prayed that if he couldn't follow Niko, Niko would survive. Gritting his teeth, Leo went over to the door, opening it. Niko.. I won't let you get hurt. Not now, not ever. -
"Gallant," Tess commented as he drew near the man guarding the door. He pulled his sword out, twisting it around in his hand. "Protecting something, are we? Or perhaps, someone? You know, it's rather foolish. Step aside, and I wont kill you."
What a lie. He would kill the man either way, in order to take the women he knew was hiding inside somewhere. He was a man, after all, probably drunk on live, and would run to the ends of the earth to save his wife. Tess couldn't allow that, though he would admit, it was cute. He wished that he had time for such foolishness, but- Alas, he did not. He would settle, though, for a women in his bed until he reached the next dock and could trade her in for a new one. Or, if she was a lot of trouble, he could throw her over the side of the ship if she proved too much trouble, like the last one had. -
"I wouldn't trust your words even if you had puppy dog eyes. I know you're going to kill me and I couldn't care less." Leo's jaw clentched up as his eyes went down to the man's sword. He was going to die. He knew it. But if he could get Niko to run.. He suddenly turned, shouting, "GO." He ran inside, getting a chair. With a force roar, he attempted to bash the pirate with it in hopes of giving Niko a few spare seconds.
Niko was having a bit of trouble getting through the window. It wasn't exactly made for a grown man to escape through, nor was it made to be thrown open as hard as it had been. It took up all of the time to squeeze through the tight space. When he made it through, he fell face first into a patch of flowers. This lead to a bunch of sneezing and irritation. He forgot about running and took precious time sneezing his head off. Dammit.. I'm allergic to these! Leo shouldn't have planted them.. It was then he remembered that he was supposed to be running.
