[A] is a teenager coming from a background of neglect and poverty. Their home life is quiet, with no father to be spoken of and a mother numb to the world and drowning in alcoholism. With no outstanding achievements in academics and an unhealthy dose of alienation at school, accompanied by the mindset of having been abandoned and left to die in poverty by the government, [A] has plenty to be bitter about when the Death Note falls into their hands. They've never stood out before. Why should anyone suspect them now? Just a few kills here, a few bullies, a few politicians that helped keep the lower class exactly where they were, but why stop there? [A] can be the next Kira. They can fix the whole country if they play their cards right.
[B] is a detective. Their inspiration comes from L, of course, because it's a Death Note rp. They've read through all of the records, the theories posted on the internet, the case files kept by the investigation team. The first few kills made by the new Kira go unnoticed. A few scattered incidents, unconnected. However, as the death toll rises, it becomes clear that something's going on, and [B] is more than ready to accept the idea that another Death Note might be active. It's easier still to believe it when they find one of their own at the scene of a mass suicide. Given this type of power, it's an impossible temptation to resist, utilizing the notebook for personal gain alongside their own moral godplay.
As [B] slowly begins bettering their life using the Death Note, the odd deaths are reported as usual and attributed to the new Kira, causing [A] a great amount of outrage. Finding what ways they can to communicate with one another anonymously, the two establish a rivalry that distorts the norm and inverts the roles of the classic L vs Kira.
