In the modern world people pay no attention to the past. They're far too busy with the present. This modern world is busy, cold, and unrelenting. People work until they die, more people are born to replace them, and that cycle continues. Technology has destroyed magic, science has overtaken religion, and ancient culture has faded. But as the years go by this modern world changes. Society dies and a new society is birthed. As that society grows those people learn fear. Fear delivered in the haunting forms of past civilizations. They fight to stop the cycle. But cycles are not easily broken...
