"That's stupid." Etie said bluntly, stopping to look at a candy shop.
"No." Haunt said quickly.
"You're no fun." She huffed. -
Dom narrowed his eyes at the couple in front of a candy shop. It couldn't be. She was dead. Gone. She would never have gotten together with a demon, anyways. If she had lived, she would have found her way back to him. Despite these arguments against himself, Dom stepped forward in their direction.
-
Haunt turned as he sensed the other immortal approaching. The feathers on his wings ruffled slightly, and he stepped closer to the oblivious Alouette.
Etie stared into the shop, then at the flowers decorating the outside. -
Dom frowned at the demon that blocked his view. "Move." he said in a low voice, nearly a growl.
-
"Why..?" Haunt whispered, not intimidated. He tilted his head slightly, expression blank.
"What's going on?" Etie said, walking around from behind Haunt, blinking. -
Dom didn't bother responding the demon, instead turning his attention fully to the girl behind him.
It was her. It had to be. Even as he stared, he could feel his heart leap within his chest. It wasn't a coincidence. "Alouette." he whispered, his voice a small, hopeful breath. -
Etie blinked, looking at the stranger. "Hello?"
Haunt sighed. -
Dom ground his teeth, suddenly feeling uncontrollable anger rise within her. He wheeled on the demon. "What. Did. You. Do. To. Her?!" he growled with enough ferocity to frighten an ordinary creature.
-
Haunt raised an eyebrow, frowning faintly "Do to her? What are you talking about?"
Alouette's eyes widened, looking from the stranger to Haunt. -
The anger was consuming him. Making him dizzy. A white roar rose in his ears and he could feel the urge to snap the demon's neck right there. He had done something. Wiped her memory, maybe.
It was Etie's wide eyes that jerked him out of his anger, and he calmed himself enough to speak. "Etie. Don't you remember...?" -
Haunt watched him, expression hard as stone.
"Remember...What, exactly?" She blinked, then frowned "Wait, how do you know my name?" -
Grief hit him next; cold, consuming grief. He stared at her beautiful face. The face he'd kissed and held. The face he'd woken up to morning after morning. But her familiar eyes were at the same time unfamiliar and distant. She didn't know him.
Dom turned on the demon, and his fist snapped out to slam into the other's face with lightning speed.
