  I sit in my usual seat, near my "friends". I act like I'm bored, but I listen. Unlike most popular people, I like to have good grades. Ms. Baker, out of the blue says," I will now assign you partners for a project on the French Revolution." She calls out some names. Most of the kids get paired up with friends, but when she calls my name, my partner is some girl named Katy Davis.

  I give her a winning smile, but she clearly despises me. "Hello, Katy. I'm Jackson, as you know." I debated shaking her hand, but decided against it.

  I wondered if her smile was friendly or venomous. The bell rang, and I gave her my number so we could work on the project. I then filed out of the classroom with the other students, who were all glad school was over. I rushed home.
