"Didn't she have a job to do, anyway? Y'know, escorting the goody-two-shoes into Heaven?" He walked over to the base of the tree.

"Eh....you're probably right..." She mumbled.

"Exactly." He soared up to her. "I was doing her a favor. Ugh, I can't be doing favors for people. I think you're rubbing off on me."

She laughed and leaned back. "Hardly."

"Next thing you know I'll be protecting innocent humans from being attacked at night or volunteering to help clean your wings or something." Erasmus shook his head. "I never got your name, by the way."

Sera shook her head. "First of all, death is planned, and once it's planned, it can't be avoided. And my wings barely get dirty. The name's Sera. And you?"

"You think I don't know that?" He grabbed one of her wings, stretching it out and looking at it. "Hmm... I guess you're right. Oh, and it's Erasmus. Or Seth. Whatever."

"OW!" She yelled, rubbing her right wing.

"That hurt?" he asked, a little shocked.

"Yea, that hurt. Our wings are fragile, ya know."

"Hmp." He spread his wings, wrapping one around her gently. They were tattered, but somehow he could still fly.

She moved closer to him and shivered.

He looked out into the distance, trying to see beyond the trees. "Can living humans see us?"

Sera shook her head. "Nope."

"Well, I dunno if you wanna come with me, but I've never seen their world during the day." He glided down to the ground, walking off through the trees.
