Kendall NoviceQuestions that need answers. I would prefer a Catholic or Christian, but all are welcome.
1.) Can someone be forgiven of their sins even if they do not go to reconciliation?
2.) If someone repeatedly commits small (venial) sins without going to reconciliation, are they considered mortal sins by the end of your death?
3.) (For those who believe in Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory...) Is it possible that God will send you to Hell but you can then convert and be moved into either Purgatory or Heaven?
Yup, that's all I got for now, but I'll have lots more to come. Thanks. -
1.) Yes. Someone can be forgiven through the Last Rites. Also, if you meant to go to Reconciliation before death but was not able to then God will forgive you.
2.) No. No number of venial sins can become a mortal sin.
3.) I know it's possible to die and become sorry for your sins while dying, therefore God will send you to Purgatory. Once you are judged and go to Hell, it is because you are not sorry for your sins. If someone were to "convert" while in Hell, it would be because they are sorry for themselves versus being sorry for their sins, after all, that is why God sent them to Hell. I suppose that if someone were truly sorry for their sins and NOT for themselves then God would show them mercy, even if they were already in Hell. I don't believe the Catholic Church ever said one thing or another on that issue though. The CCC (Catechism of the Catholic Church) might contain the answer to your question if they have ruled on it. -
1.) Sin is a flawed idea. Do what you feel is right.
2.) If you aren't harming others, enjoy yourself.
3.) Not applicable. But nothing has ever suggested it. -
Kendall NoviceFor my first question, could you be forgiven of your sins without telling anybody on Earth? The reason I ask is because I don't feel comfortable telling what I did wrong to another person, especially a male adult. It just feels really awkward and I don't like it. I'd rather tell God through prayer that I'm sorry. That'd be much easier for me.

1: I believe that you can confide your sins to God without telling anyone. The only people you should tell are: God, and anyone who was affected. So if someone already knows about it, just apologize to them, if it affected them. If not, tell God. If you ask for forgiveness, I promise he will forgive you. But I agree that it is for you to decide what is right and wrong. Thats why we were given agency and accountability.
2: I dont know what a mortal sin is...but I can say that God will forgive you for ANYTHING. No matter what you do, you can be forgiven, if you are sorry.
3: I PERSONALLY (not a mormon belief as far as I know) believe that Hell is a place for people to stay until they accept God, and repent for their sins. Once they are sorry, they will be moved to a different level. (Mormons believe a little differently about "Heaven" and "Hell".)
