Thread Topic: Question to atheists...
-
Your belief is that there is no God, no Savoir...meaning, when you die...you die. Nothing happens. Ok, that's your belief.
Aren't you afraid of dying? Since you believe that dying is just dying, there is no resurrection or heaven coming... Let's just say, if your belief is correct. Dying is just dying. Death is just death. Aren't you scared of never waking up from the dead, seeing all your loved ones, family and friends? What about your beloved pets? I would be pretty pissed off if death is just death, no heaven...I would never get to see my cats who are waiting for me in heaven D: so that's just, I'm a faithful Christian.
Anyway, atheists...? Care to answer? -
dw1996 NewbieDying is a natural part of life. I don't worry about it because you can't live in fear of death. That doesn't mean that I jump off of bridges and drive 100 miles per hour every day of my life, but I enjoy life while I'm here. That's how I fill the void. BTW I'm not really an atheist, but I don't count on there being life after death.

Same as dw really.
I mean, I fear death but at the same time, not really.
And besides, if I die, I can't get pissed at anything, just saying. -
When you die, that last electrical spark burns out, you Are Not. You as a being only exist as a corpse. There is no form of conscience to analyze the crappiness of "afterlife". Personally, I don't really care about anyone, including myself. I've been desensitized in the most extreme way. Besides, heaven as most people imagine it, with the angels and singing and harps, is downright ridicuolous. I'd rather be in Hell.

You can't run from death... Death is just a part of life... If I died, I wouldn't get mad at anything... Everyone is afraid of death but everyone has to pass away, right?
-
I'm not an atheist- in fact, I consider myself Christian, but lately have been questioning that idea. However, I still have a strong belief in God.
Anyway, to me there is an afterlife, and it rewards those who were honorable in life. (Yes, kind of like a Klingon.)
Death is not something to be feared, but celebrated. Do not grieve, but appreciate their existence, and joyfully acknowledge their entry into a new place. (Kind of like the next level on a video game, if you will.)
This isn't to say just brush it off and treat life like a thing that can be replaced and cloned; however, to treat death as a part of life.
Even if there is not an afterlife, why should I fear death? It comes to everyone. And should you never see anything again, you won't know it when it happens. -
I would rather face an unpleasant truth, than believe a pretty lie.
-
I don't really mean afterlife... but at the same time I do. Like, eternal life... soul goes into heaven etc all that stuff.
-
I don't fear death. It makes life a reason to try and enjoy yourself. I'd rather ne nothing than live forever. And I'm happy with that.
And honestly. If all this religion shiz turns out to be true, I want to go to hell.
