Okay so my friend Sarah goes to a different church than I do, and her church has a youth group where they do things like car washes, cookouts, carnivals, building houses in hurricane areas, and other stuff like that. Sarah wanted me to ask my mom if I could start going to her church so I could do the youth group with her. My mom asked what church and the church she goes to is a Methodist church. I go to a Catholic church. My mom won't let me go to a Methodist church because there are distinct differences between the two religions. But, she's not able to tell me the differences. Can someone please tell me some of the differences?

The Methodist church is generally more liberal-leaning than the Catholic church, and involves more youth groups and volunteer work.
I don't really know enough about Catholicism to compare tiny differences, but those are the main ones. -
The biggest difference between the two religions is that Methodists are okay with you worshiping God how you choose to. The Catholic Church however has an exstensive set of rules you have to abide by, most notably not using birth control. But no one actually follows that: 98% of Catholic women use birth control.
Your mom probably doesn't know what the Methodist church is all about. She is probably only concerned because it is something different than what you were raised to believe. -
Okay thank you.
