ALRIGHTY! :D
So the point of this thread: Mormons (a.k.a. Jehovah's Witnesses) and Jews are. Not. Christians.
They are very different. They have a couple of simialarities - they all believe that God and Jesus exist.
It ends there, for the most part.
When people say christians, I have found that for some reason, they're referring to jews, mormons, and christians...so yeah... :/
Christians - First of all, not all christians have the same beliefs. There are several different groups. The two major ones are catholics and protestants. If you didn't know that already, I'm amazed. You've seen those churches with the stained glass windows, and the altar, and the candles and the holy water and stuff, right? That's usually catholic, although there are some protestant groups that have all that stuff as well. Also, not all christians are super-turbo "religous" or whatever. Some of us go to church every Sunday and Wednesday, some of us have never been in a church in their lives. Some of us are "homophobes", some of us aren't. Unless it's about jesus being crucified or something obvious like that, you can't say that all christians believe a certian idea.
Thise is what defines a christian - somebody who believes that God, in the form of a man named Jesus, came to earth to take the punishment of sin from us.
That's it, people. :P
Mormons (a.k.a. Jehovah's Witnesses) - You've probably seen one or two people walking around your neighborhood, going door to door and telling people about their religion. Those were not christians. Those were mormons. Mormonism is not a type a christianity. I'm stupid, I know what I believe, and it's not mormonism. Mormons will sometimes say they're a christian, in attempt to convert christians to mormonism, but they aren't. Mormons believe that God was once a man who became God, while christians believe that God has always been God and will always be God. Mormons also believe that there are different heavens, but no hell. They believe you go to a heaven based on how much good you've done in your life, and if you've done alot of good, you can become a god with your own planets and stuff. Christians believe that you go to heaven if you accept that jesus died for your sins, and there's only one heaven. Mormons also do not celebrate birthdays (no idea why), and they don't read the bible, they read the book of mormon. They also believe something odd about how when somebody dies, everybody in the church has to be baptised again...but...I don't really understand that, or why they do it, as it really makes no sense to me.
Jews - They believe in God, but not Jesus. They beleieve that God hasn't sent the messiah yet. They do not eat pork...they believe it's unclean or something. They don't eat cheeseburgers. They eat cheese and they eat beef, but not cheeseburgers. They do that because it's like the milk is from a mother cow and the beef is from a calf, so it's like boiling a calf in it's mother's milk (which is absolutely disgusting, in my opinion). They are also very strict about not working on Sunday,a nd a bunch of other rules I haven't studied much about. :P
So as you can see, they are not different types of christians - they are different religions altogether.
As I've already said, I'm not stupid. i know what i believe, and I know what they believe. It's not the same, and it's not similiar enough to be in the same religion.
And seriously, when people say 'religous" they're usually trying to refer to these three religions. But the word "religous" refers to everybody who has any religion whatsoever. This includes christians, hindus, satanists, wiccans, anybody who has any religion at all. It bugs meeee. -
*I'm not stupid.
Awesome, I just called myself stupid! XDD -
watch the south park mormon episode :D

I take the time to type this giant thing out and all I get is a TV recommendation.
Darn you all.
xD -
I decided to read it.
Actually, Mormons believe that there are a branch of Christianity and such. It's not a benchmark point that you've become Mormon when you believe Jesus is your lord and savior, but most do.
I can't remember if this was a new proposal on changing where Presbytery USA lies on the issue of "becoming a Christian" or if this is what Mormons believe, but here it is...
But I heard that some people believe that God would accept you if you love all beings and where your heart is or something. I don't know, if it's the Presbytary, we are getting slightly screwed up in the head. The changes about how gays and bisexuals could have leadership roles, that strays away from the Bible. -
Mormons believe in several heavens, and they believe in Jesus, but they believe Jesus was literally God's son, not God himself. They also believe that you get to heaven based on good things you've done in your life.
Sorry if I'm wrong, but they don't believe Jesus was God, and they don't believe he died on the cross for our sins, so how does that make them christians? >. -
In some instances, Mormons do believe that Jesus died for their sins. But it's complicated. I have/had a friend who's Mormon. He's kindoff alienated himself as the years go by. So I can see where they act out doing good things in their life. Not saying I'm doing bad things, he's just robotic almost.

tongue AdvancedMormons and Jehovah's Witnesses are different branches actually, and I maintain that both are Christians because they do in fact accept Jesus Christ as their personal savior. Mormons are members of The Church of Latter Day Saints of Jesus Christ! JESUS IS IN THE FREAKING NAME OF THEIR CHURCH! But obviously Jews are not Christians, and a Christians aren't Jews. And you should watch the Mormon episode of South Park.
