I believe tolerating one's religion is more important than respecting it.
The highest education possible is tolerance am I correct? There's no point respecting a belief if you can't tolerate it.
if you can tolerate it and not respect it, it's fine because you're not being a douche about it.
I don't really respect the majority of Christian beliefs but I tolerate it. -
I feel similarly with many things like that.
If I'm getting the point anyway.
But I mean things like gay marriage, I don't personally believe in it but I want it to be legalized, because I believe in respecting people's rights as citizens.
And other religions/lack thereof...I really don't agree with them but will not into a b----fest about them going by their system (unless of course they insult me, on a deeper level than religion. Then it's no longer a religious debate but a personal one.) -
I think the same thing about accepting all religions. Who cares when it cones to what you believe or whatever

Agreeedddd withh Tingilicious..

Just wanting throw out that nobody on here tolerates the goal of Christianity. And nobody can deny that. Were to go out in our broken world to make disciples of all nations, introduce the word to them. We're to become fishers of men. And nobody on here tolerates that.

theres a different between tolerance and respect britt, you're talking about respect, i'm talking about tolerence
i don't respect your beliefs (but i agree with some of them) but i tolerate them, i make jokes about it in all good fun, i even joke about atheism and myself :P all you need is a sense of humor and that stick out your ass -
My "discussions" about religion with Heph and Emma were not tolerated or respected at all. I'm sure most everyone on here, would not tolerate those again. So no, it's both.
And what was humorous in this? I honestly don't know. -
i didn't say EVERYONE tolerated/respected it, i said i did, and my proposal was that tolerance was more important than respect
i said I made jokes about christianity in good fun. -
Can't find the thread " Brit come here, this is my beef with you" or something like that. That disproves your statement.
I dion't think I've commented on religion jokes. I'll make fun of my race, my personality, my intelligence, anything other than religion. Though, I usually don't comment on the religion jokes. -
It's like a racist joke: Some, like me, will find them hilarious, but some will find it insulting and cruel.
It depends on your perspective, really. Using racism as an example, just because you laugh at a racist joke doesn't make you racist. So, finding a joke where the punchline mocks religion doesn't mean that the joker doesn't tolerate religion.
Then again, I could be wrong. Can't you two just agree to disagree?
;) -
britt, that has nothing to do with this
hell, i tolerate your religion, BUT I DON'T TOLERATE YOU BADGERING MY FRIENDS ABOUT THEIR SEXUALITY, once that happens, people usually get KNIFED by me in real life.
i like your analogy nikki, its whut i be trying to say. -
Converting people to the Christian way of living life, it's all the same thing Carri, I wasn't doing it just to upset anyone.
And I don't really think any religious joke is funny. I'm fine with any other ones, but I myself, will never poke fun at my own religion. I don't really care for making jokes about religion, but I'd give my consent. I wouldn't and I don't think I have invaded someone's thread for making religious jokes.
So, I'm not sure what the argument is about now... -
god, you're such a stick in the ass
i saw the examples you pulled up
EXAMPLE TWO WASNT EVEN MAKING FUN OF CHRISTIANITY, I FOUND IT ON DA, THAT JOKE WAS MADE BY A PROUD CHRISTIAN HERSELF, cause she was poking fun at herself, which you are too butthurt to do.
i've made jokes about EVERYTHIng
hell i've made racist and hate jokes too. even s--- against atheism.
