Thread Topic: Confession booths

Well, I was talking to my friend, and whenever you go in a confession booth, the guy who 'relieves you of your sins' can't tell anyone. THat includes if you murdered your wife.
That includes if you're blowing up an airport that afternoon. THEY CAN'T TELL ANYONE.
So, should they break the rules of confidance? I mean, if they could save a million lives, if they could save even one life, should they tell? I mean, break a holy vow?
And should they be doing it at all? I mean, I don't like it when people say "You'll burn in Hell for that" But it does keep people who believe in that stuff on the right path.
Some people, the belief in eternal torment is all that's stopping them from murdering If there's a guy who just goes "You're forgiven God will accept you" Where's the enforcement of the laws of the bible?
Anyhow, post whatever you think. Thanks! -
johninMI NewbieI'm not a big fan of confessional, or Catholicism in general. It's almost as if there are no consequences for sinning.

Meh. I'm not a big fan of religion. Period. But it'd be nice to be the person listening to all that. Hey, hello? It's called a video camera with sound btw!!! But no, not right.

I fully understand that by telling someone many lives could be saved, but...it's an oath. A person's word should be their bond, and if they break it they have dishonored themselves.
Not like the people knew what was coming anyway. -
Half and half. If it's bad enough, I think the confession should be told of :\ On the other hand, it should be in general kept secret. It's a way for people to get some things off their chest.
