I'm curious if anyone would be interested in putting arguments forwards for this radical hypothetical.
In this hypothetical, if you choose for everyone to be religious, not everyone will follow the same religious. The religious landscape would be similar to what it is right now, but everyone would hold firm belief in their local religious sects, and would try their best to act according to their religious doctrine.
If you chose the second option, no one is religious, but they may have a variety of opinions on the nature of reality based on where we are at currently in our scientific discovery. They also still subscribe to cultural norms of their regions.
If you post here you are opening yourself up to follow up questions, but only in the spirit of academia, no witch hunting. I want to have a positive religious discussion with people to help challenge our beliefs. As such, I won't mention which one I would choose, I will just try to reply to everyone and help further the discussion. -
Same religion*

This is a very interesting question and I'd like to answer from both a Christian perspective (my religion) and an agnostic one.
From a Christian perspective, I believe that Jesus is the only way to salvation. In a world where no one is religious, no one would be saved. Would the records and history of religious text be erased or simply forgotten? Or would it never have existed to begin with? So I'd chose the first option, purely so that people might still be saved.
Now, let's say I didn't believe in anything. If that were the case, I'd say it doesn't really matter which option you chose. People are being meant to worship, which is why there are so many religions, so many superstars with intense fans, so many popular forms of media with people who are completely absorbed in it.
I'd say that people will always chose to believe, or rather, hope that there is a place after death where justice is given to those who could not receive it in life. Paradise for dear loved ones, punishment for the evils in this world. And people will always ask why and how. Why do we exist and how did it happen? People will always search for ways to explain things, and that's a big reason why religions are so prominent.
TLDR from my Christian standpoint I'd pick the first, but from an agnostic standpoint it wouldn't really matter, because we'd circle back anyway
