If there was a definite answer to this you wouldn't have to ask.
Many people claim that when they watch their loved ones pass away sometimes they'll flatline and come back for a moment just to scream that they're burning and to help them only to flatline again. Many other people who have died and came back to life also claim to have seen or felt some sort of "light."
From a scientific standpoint much of this could be explained by your brain and nervous system shutting down, but may religious people claim this is proof of an afterlife.
Many other people don't believe in heaven or hell. Some people believe in an entirely different form of paradise or eternal punishment while others believe in reincarnation or ghosts.
Many young children have been studied who claim from a young age that they were someone else in a past life. One three year old child was even reunited with someone from their supposed past life and immediately started sobbing once they saw them because their emotional connection was so strong with them
Many people have also claimed to experience living other lives in their dreams. They claim the have crystal clear memories of living out this whole life separate to theirs only to wake up and become incredibly depressed because their old family is gone.
There is also an abundant amount of anecdotal experiences that show evidence of spirits, ghosts, and other entities interacting with our world. This can range from home possessions, people who claim to be in touch with the dead, and many other forms of paranormal activity.
I haven't died so I can't tell you which version is correct. All I can say is that I do believe in something. I think that it's silly to not entertain the idea that something could happen since deaths inevitable anyways. -
