Thread Topic: Lets Talk About "God"

Ever wondered to yourself, does God really exist? What is He? Where is he? Why don't we know for sure whether God exists or not?
Even if you believe in God, have you ever reached a breaking point at some point and completely lose faith in God? If there is no solid evidence of His existence, why believe in Him?
Let us start by defining the meaning of God. Most would define God as the "divine being in control of the universe"
But is this a sufficient explanation? If God is a divine being, would we not have further proof of this?
So how else can we define God?
I personally prefer to define God as "He who creates, nurtures, feeds and protects"
So lets understand this definition. To nurture is to care for, to feed we all know and to protect is straight forward.
So when you think of this, then doesn't a mother qualify as a God? Mothers give birth (create) and nurture and feed the child as well as protect it at all costs so is a mother a God? Fathers do the same thing, are they a God too? Can the sun be considered a God? Without the sun, we would have no food, no warmth and no light. Without the sun, we wouldn't be alive, so is the sun a God? What about Earth? We are born on earth, she provides us with foods, protects us from harmful rays of sunlight and asteroids. So is Earth a God?
To answer these questions you look at previous cultures and religions. Most, if not all, religions just look at parents as Guardians for a temporary period. However, I came across 1 religion that looks at the parents as Gods. Not Gods to worship, but a God in that they create, nurture, feed and protect their children even when the children can look after themselves. This religion is the oldest, before Islam, before Christianity, before even Satanism, this religion has been there for thousands of years. This religion is Hinduism.
Now you must understand that I don't consider myself to be of any religion, infact I never even believed in a God until a couple of years ago.
I vowed to not believe in a God until I find something that clicks with me. And for some reason, Hinduism does.
Hindus consider their parents to be Gods as they have the same quality that God has. They also consider the sun to be a God, and this is of course questionable but not without reason. As I previously mentioned about the sun, without it, we would not be here today.
So God is one who creates, nurtures, feeds and protects. But still something does not click.
As we all know, Hinduism is more of worshiping idols. I have noticed this and I have noticed how almost all religions say God should not be worshiped through an idol at all, as this is blasphemy.
So why do Hindus and some other African and Chinese religions worship idols?
To understand this, you must understand something.
The Chinese and Hindus believe that God's form is based on personal belief. With different people comes different ideas of what God may actually be.
Think of the books we read everyday. They are made from the same thing, paper. So why don't we call all the books paper instead of differentiating them from each other? We differentiate them because the authors who wrote the books have different opinions and thoughts.
This goes the same with God. God is a bracket term. Different people have different beliefs and faith on who exactly God is.
Hindus believe that every God is right. Whether He is Allah, Jehovah or Shiva, He is still a God regardless of His name or His appearance.
I remember my niece asking her parent, is God weak? When asked why she thinks God is weak she replied "because if I take a hammer, I can break Him" referring to the idol. So the parent then explained that "You can break the statue and thousands others, but no one can break you because God is in you".
This brings the idea of manifestation, God is omnipresent, He is everywhere at the same time.
I am sure all religions believe this, that God sees all and knows all.
So I return back to idol worshiping, why do Hindus and Chinese and even Africans worship different statues of different creatures even, while other religions such as Christianity and Islam deem this as evil or blasphemy?
The idols are there to increase faith, for it has been known that man who cannot see, will not believe in it.
I am sure if you ask a lot of atheists why they don't believe in a God they will respond with "there is no evidence of a God".
The idols therefore are there to help maintain faith in a God, it doesn't have to be Jehovah, it doesn't have to be Allah it must just be a belief and faith for you and you alone.
So in short, God eventually is a belief or faith YOU and YOU alone have. Does this answer whether God exists or not? I am afraid no one will be able to answer this but you alone.
If you want to see proof of God, you must first open your eyes to the World.
Do not assume your religion is right, do not assume your religion is wrong, for the more you ask about God, the more questions you will receive instead of answers.
Remember that what you and you alone believe is true.
If you believe in God then He does exist to you
If you don't believe in God then He does not exist to you.
Don't try to enforce your thoughts and beliefs on to others and we will all live happily =)
