Thread Topic: My mom's story

She wasn't a Christian at the time and had a child at age 16.
She smoked, which got in the way of caring for her baby boy.
He was about a year old at the time; she would have to run outside and smoke as quickly as possible and then run back to check on her baby. And in the winter she would have to smoke up into the chimney. It was extremely hard for her to take care of this child alone and be a smoker at the same time.
One day she talked to God and said "God, please help me. I can't do this anymore. Please just help me to stop smoking."
She woke up the next morning without even the slightest urge.
She hasn't smoked since. -
Hm
-
....so you're saying God 'saved' her? Pfft, I'm sorry but she could have stopped anytime.
-
I agree with Anri. My mom use to smoke and then when she was 17, she just threw out her cigarets, and never smoked again. And my dad use to chew tabaco, but he stopped a couple years after we got our new house, and he hasn't chewed tabaco since.
-
That doesn't mean my mom was like that. She was really addicted to them; it seemed completely impossible for her to just stop. But nothing's impossible hehe
-
Your mom quit smoking because she wanted to. I know from experience that you really have to WANT to quit smoking to even begin to quit.
-
Everyone who smokes gets really addicted to cigarets because of the nicotine in it.
There are actually several things that are impossible: you can't slam a revolving door, you can't staple water to a tree, you can't jump out of a plane that's in the sky, without a parachute, and survive, you can't go into space without wearing the suit. -
Is it bad I'm laughing at this? Faith has nothing to f---ing do with stopping an addiction. I mean seriously she could have stopped anytime. You're brain has the power to stop the addiction! God has nothing to f---ing do with it. You're mind is the only thing that can stop you from doing something. So if your mom became a Christian because of this so called "miracle", that's really pathetic.
-
DOA, those things actually are possible to me in a form, but I'm not even going to go into that stuff again.
anri --- okay.....may I ask what made you believe in your religion? -
With a bracer in the door, it can be slammed. Also if you spin it faster than the air can move out of the way, you create resistance and eventually a type of "slam".
Ice is another state of matter for water. And ice can be stapled.
It's been done before. It's not easy, but it can be done. By laying your body perfectly flat you can distribute the force of the impact enough that you might survive. Not to mention things like landing in water.
And you can go in to space without wearing a suit. For about 30 seconds.
ISN'T SCIENCE FUN! -
I have no religion, I believe in things that are possible like renecarnation, karma, and a few other things. I believe there is something controling our fate and destiny, not some God. We have the power to make our own choices, not follow something in a old book that has been altered. I believe in the scientific theories of evolution. I know there a good and evil thing in our world that ae judged. other than that I have no basic religion.
-
^ And what makes you believe that?
-
Believe what kid.
-
In everything you believe; everything you just said.
-
I just do hm. No one infuenced me to believe in it.
