No, we understand it, and because we understand it we've all figured out it is a crock of bulls--- that isn't worth our time. Never confuse lack of understanding and lack of belief.

No I mean even though they don't believe they don't understand how impottant it can be to people.

Religion is like a placebo. It's a drug that people are raised to believe they need. When in reality it does nothing. They become dependent on something that in reality doesn't exist.
THAT is how important it is. Everything you can physically achieve through religion, (A sense of community, A sense of purpose, inner peace, ect) can be achieved without religion. And at least when you accomplish something without it, you don't have to give credit to a wizard in the sky.
I probably could have worded this to be less offensive, but the general gist of my meaning would not have changed. Take it for what you will. -
