We've never claimed that everyone who is religious is scientifically backwards. A gross generalization like that would be ignorant to say the least. But what we have stated is that the ones who actually do contribute to society are so far and few between that they do not negate the atrocities of the rest of the system.

I just wanted to say that because a lot of people have been saying that catholics are scientifically backwards around here (where I live), and whenever I try to explain this to them, they shut me down, say that couldn't have possibly happened, and call me a "retarded catholic slut."
Yeah, I don't get it. They assume that just because I'm catholic I don't appreciate science. The stereotype is really going too far.
What really gets me is that my science grades are higher than theirs. -
School doesn't teach you to learn, it teaches you to memorize. Learning is the desire to understand things. To find factual truth and to never accept something simply because it's what someone else told you.
I never let my school work interfere with my learning. -
I learned plenty of things outside of school, but it was based on something I found interesting that I saw in school. Like when I was in fifth grade and we had astronomy. I wanted to learn more so I did research. School is good, but you need to take yourself outside the classroom.

I never really stopped studying astronomy. It's the greatest thing in the world.
