At school, everyone looks to me for the answers and constantly checks things with me to make sure they're correct or reasonable. I'm expected to be one of the main participants in discussions. My speaking skills are supposedly superb, and my writing skills are nothing to laugh at. Sure, I'm not in an advanced math group (even though most of the time I should be), but apparently I'm the most intelligent one in the seventh grade math class.
In my extended family, though, I'm nothing special. Let me rephrase that. I'm nothing at all. I fade into the background as achievements are passed around the room, success on exams; acceptance letters from colleges; public speaking events, whether success is achieved or not. I could disappear from existence, and everyone would be too busy laughing at what happened at Ellen's prom to see me leave.
I'm not whining about lack of attention, or not being the "baby" in the family. I had this awkward age gap where I had all of this to myself. But nobody really noticed me then, anyway, either. I cease to exist in my family...
I just read over this again. I sound like a whiny little brat. I'm sorry for complaining about this. If posting it makes me feel better...

But school isn't exactly great either. Everyone loves to point out any and every flaw I make and think it's some huge achivement to beat me. In fact, the other day in history we were working in groups and even though they were on the same level as me, they had no clue what they were doing, I had to read all the packets, and they wouldn't shut up which took me longer to read. -_- Then I got confused because they were going ahead and just guessing and getting it all wrong and when I asked them to slow down or explain one of them shouted, "HAHA! WE'RE BEATING TERESA! OH YEAH, LEVEL UP!" -__________-" Just because I'm intelligent doesn't mean doing something better causes celebration. Then I asked, "Do you really have to do that? -_-'" and they responded, "Well Teresa, you're the Albert Einstein of the 7th grade, so yes, it does call for gloating" Yet my family always calls me an idiot! But my sister (who failed her math class with an 8) is a genius. 9_9 To them anyways. They're really oximorons because they also call me a wise ass because I say complex things they don't understand.
