Does anyone want to help me understand this?
Thread Topic: Does anyone want to help me understand this?

It's strange that the people who are trying to defend Melanie Martinez (who was accused of grape without the g) because she has evidence to support her, and the accuser (Timothy) doesn't... Are the same people who slander Wilbur Soot (who was accused of ab*se) on everything they have, despite Shubble refusing to give evidence.
I can't figure out a reason for that, so if anyone could have any idea? Is this some weird gender thing? Wilbur's thing is true because he's a man and man = bad, but Timothy is wrong because she has BPD? But Shubble is right because support victims, but Melanie is right because "she couldn't ever do that!"...?
Help please ._. -
Like, I would argue that Melanie's response to Timothy was worse than Wilbur's because the main point of her argument was "She didn't say no" and I have yet to see major Melanie slander
But over half the internet is actively harassing Wilbur and his friends and fans- Those circles overlap a lot-
Do people just not want to admit their favorite creator did wrong, or was accused of wrong? Or do they genuinely not realize the double standards? -
Because I hid the previous things from recent posts, I will allow this one to be there. THIS IS A HEAVY ONE, do not enter if you are not ready for a heavy topic!!!
Please stay safe, chat!! <3 -
I don't support either of them lol, but Wilbur Soot mentioned it and basically said "I'm sorry for making you FEEL like I abused you and did things without your consent" so then a lot of people (Tubbo's a decent example, but there's more people lol) started talking about it and going "No, she was very uncomfortable with that, man..."
Idk I didn't believe the allegations until Wilbur mentioned them himself and his 'apology' was so stupid that I don't like him anymore lol -
I really did deep-dive into the situation, and while I agree he could've done better, there's a few reasons why it was a bad apology
- It was less than a week after Shubble came out about it, and during those 6 days, everyone was harassing Wilbur about it. Chances are, it was incredibly rushed, especially since he was also doing band stuff. Death threats are kinda a hard thing to work with
- He apologized for the pain he caused but was under the idea that it was consensual, then again that could be wrong but idk my two weeks worth of research says otherwise
- It wasn't an apology, it was a statement of how he personally viewed the situation. Which, in full honesty, is level and fair because that's how things should be handled to start with. With both sides given and paid attention to. It's a bad apology because it's not an apology
- Shubble very clearly hinted at him directly, mentioning words like 'tall', 'British', etc.
- The only things he admitted to was being (quoted) "slobbish, disrespectful, and selfish" (and which he apologized for, and stated he was in therapy for) and consensual biting (Which Shubble confirmed it was consensual)
- I don't honestly think it would have mattered if he said anything else, people still would've blown up like this. The only way it wouldn't have is if he straight up said "I'm a horrible person and I'm leaving the internet" (some still would've asked for more but that's just how it is)
- In the two weeks of research I put in, I couldn't find anything in support of shubble. Not in posts, nada. I only say "She's so strong for talking about it" (Which, understandable! I get it, and it's a very sweet gesture. It's just not really 'proof') and "Wilbur sucks" (Which... Is not an argument if you want to actually support someone)
Again, I may have bad sources, but I dunno, I feel like the energy I had throughout writing my info collection was neutral and started with "Support Shubble" until I realized she was sort of venting to minors on stream without real warning and expected action without providing any real evidence.
I feel like she could've taken legal action, if she was willing to provide any evidence. Very easily. Money wasn't a problem, she's recently went on a shopping spree and tried to sue her car company.
Absolutely, support victims. But the way Shubble went about this just really rubbed me wrong, especially since my personal main decider in situations is good, solid evidence. Wilbur's evidence that his fans collected is rocky at best, and Shubble doesn't even have anything right now.
I respect your decision to support Shubble and I'm surely not gonna be like "kys" no no no. You can have your decision based on whatever you would like, it's your opinion, and you're entitled to that. I just wanted to put across what I think, just as an opposer.
For some extra note, though, this was supposed to be less debate of who's in the wrong and more "Hey, why is this thing?" -
But yeah if someone could try to help explain why people are slow to slander Melanie but slandered Wilbur within hours that'd be lovely, thank you!
-
honestly this is abt how i feel abt it, but if i try to explain more it'll just sound weird-
words are hard, ngl lmaoo
and honestly, i definitely just thought it was like, kinda weird the way they went abt this. rubbed me the wrong way. and it's the same for me with the george and caitibugz situation.
honestly it's just best to separate the content from the creator, at least for me lol -
I just remain neutral publically in most cases, and I'll bring up cases to defend either side. I definitely lean for more Wilbur's side, just because of the evidence in lack and also because I just generally favor him (as a personal preference). I have nothing against Shelby, I hope she gets the help she deserves, and that she recovers from her experiences, and in any Wilbur support space I'm in (ex. the reddit page I moderate), I do not allow "Shubble is a w(b)itch" type posts because that's unnecessary.
I'm glad you found something that works for you!!
I just don't understand the double standards of Twitter sometimes lol.
Autism or ADHD = They can't do any real wrong, you're ableist if you think otherwise
Woman/Girl = Can do no wrong, stating otherwise makes you a misogynist.
LGBTQ+ = Can do no wrong, stating otherwise makes you queerphobic
Any disorder like ASPD, NPD, BPD, etc. = Crazy
Man = Takes nearly nothing to be considered bad, trying to find men's side of argument is misogynistic. Also "m*n".
I just don't understand and my brain hurts from trying to make it make sense lmao -
Also, don't be afraid to sound "weird"! We stan the weird here. Especially with me. Don't even worry about it ^^
-
Clout.
people like to get drama out of things, if they don't like someone, they make fake claims against them and try to cancel them so other people will also hate them. pretty sure it's Twitter cancel culture idk. but the thing with Melanie "never saying no" isn't an excuse for her being raped because nobody asks for SA and nobody can ever say no in that scenario
the best we can do is just ignore it, don't feed the fire, and don't talk about it lol -
I just choose to believe the victim in most situations. I don't see a good reason not to most of the time (unless it's clear as day that they're lying, but neither of these examples are that situation lol)
Idk i think it's important to understand both sides before you make a decision on what you believe as well -
I think the main reason people aren’t quick to accuse Melanie of being a r*pist is because a bunch of her songs are centred around trauma of s*xual assault and r*pe. I think their main argument is “why would a victim be a r*pist?” which makes sense, but I’m not a big fan of her so I choose to stay out of it.
