Thread Topic: I've got a question
-
What's the point of being scared of death, if it's inevitable?
-
Why be scared of something we can't prevent? It wastes so much of the time we actually do have if we spend it in fear.
-
Many people are more scared of the afterlife rather than death itself. No matter your religion, there are so many different perceptions of the afterlife and it isn't even definite that there is one at all, so that's frightening to a lot of people
-
Yeah, that makes sense. But beyond that point, death and the afterlife are inevitable. It's an interesting thing (for some reason) to me. We get terrified of something we can't prevent, and some people I used to know spent their entire lives living in fear.
-
The afterlife isn't exactly inevitable. We know what death is. What happens after on the other hand, is up to your own beliefs. I mean there may also be different perceptions of death too.
I'm not much of a religious guy myself so I don't know much about what people think of the afterlife. Some people believe you got Heaven or Hell, and I can definitely see the fear in that. Some people believe in reincarnation. Some people don't believe in anything. -
Right, on all points. I wonder if what truly happens in your afterlife, actually depends on what you believed while living.
-
I doubt that though it would be cool
-
Yeah lol. Sorry, all that was just a random thought. Thanks for answering!

You're welcome of course. Are you personally scared of death? I was assuming not since you made this thread in the first place but I also hate making assumptions.

As somebody who just realized their own mortality, death is just really scary because we only have a limited time on Earth. I understand that death is something that we can’t prevent. But thinking the thoughts along of, “What’s death going to be like?”
Whether or not it’s the thought of an afterlife, leaving all your hard work, relationships, family, is really upsetting. It’s not necessarily scary, but just sad how one day, all we’ve worked towards, could die with us. -
I’m not so afraid of dying, myself. I’m scared of the impact that it can leave on your relatives or people that you live. Because how could they be so alive while you’re so dead?
Plus, your mind is what makes you unique. When you’re dead, your mind doesn’t work anymore (according to scientists, isn’t proven but idk). It’s scary to know that one day I’ll just be gone, and all my loved ones will have to see that.
