Thread Topic: Give Your Best Advice for Mental Health

I started living by one simple rule and it has helped enormously with anxiety and depression.
The rule is simple; it's called find the most negative part of your life and cut it out, and when that's done find the next thing. It's basically self improvement but instead of focusing on "doing all the right things" it makes you focus on getting rid of the stuff you don't like.
It's harder when you're a minor since you have less agency over your life, but regardless of age I seriously implore all of you to just sever one thing that's holding you down.
You will start with the big things that are in your control, and after the "this family member who was toxic to me" and the "this class/job that was tearing me down" are gone you can start to focus on yourself. Once all of the exteriors distractions are gone you'll feel a lot of relief. Then, you can begin to truly focus on yourself. It's really hard to focus on your own mental health when you feel like your life is out of control or not really yours to live.
I know it's easier said than done, but I'm happy to help anyone brainstorm ways or help implement change.
Feel free to share your advice as to what's helped you, too! -
The first step is at least recognizing it too. If you can at least see that maybe one of the sources of your unhappiness stems from something external you can mentally distance yourself from that thing and begin to take accountability for your own emotions.
