Thread Topic: Why 'user above you ' and 'tbh' threads are so popular

I think this is the psychological answer. This could be totally wrong but this is what I think. Feel free to correct me/share your opinions on it. We as humans are insecure and like the idea of being well liked. Our brains are obsessed with how others perceive us. Even something as little as a profile picture matters. We seek approval to calm down our insecurities. So when someone puts 'user above you' that means someone will tell their honest input on you. Which is what you desire. You post, and the answer the other person can either make you feel good or bad. so you post again, hoping someone else will give you input on you. The same desperation of knowing what others think comes into play with the tbh thing. This is how we are wired, which is why it is so popular. On one hand it can be annoying to see these threads, but on the other, you feel you need to make sure at least one person likes something about you. I don't know any psychological terms for this, but that's also just what I think. What do you think?
I also do not believe these trends will die. I think maybe we could start making them in the lounge. But either way, things like these are just wired into us. So these things will not die. Evolution is a long process. -
gloXgod NewbieYou can hold this L if you think im reading that whole post

NeonSpectere NewbieTo some it up:
People's brains make them like attention and look for approval
These threads give approvall/disapproval
People like hearing about themselves, that's how they are wired
So these threads are so popular because our brains are desperate for an opinion on us
These thread trends will probably never go away but I suggest moving them to the lounge -
Yes, even Sigmund Freud will agree with you.
