Thread Topic: What's your studying/note taking style?
-
I used to not study, but I started studying this year. I take a lot of notes, too. I like my notes to be organized and colourful, so I put my highlighter collection to good use there. Personally, I have different note taking and studying styles for each class. I usually do all my studying very last minute, admittedly. I don't like to stress myself out too much, so I take it easy. A little too easy. 😂
Math: For math, I usually just take notes in class and write sown lots of examples. I don't really study for math because we do so many worksheets that it gets drilled into my head by the time a test comes.
Animal Science: Animal Science is an agricultural class for mostly FFA members. I'm just there because I got put in the wrong class. The tests are very difficult and memorization-based. Depending on the unit, my detail in notes varies. I often write down vocabulary words and important charts/formulas while we're all reading in class. Today, we had a review game where the teacher read off of the test and asked us to answer the questions for team points. I wrote down (in shorthand because he went really fast) each question and answer and things he told us to study. I rewrote them on another piece of paper and am in the process of using it like my own worksheet, answering the questions myself and hiding the answers. I'll probably highlight the most important things when I'm done and review them a few minutes before the test tomorrow morning.
History: I do pretty much the same thing as I do for Animal Science, but I always highlight dates, names, places, and events especially. I have an impressive set of notes in my binder for that class. My friends in that class tell me I'm like my own history textbook. 😂
English: Pf, I don't study or take notes for English. But I did review literary terms before the fall final. I only take notes for that class when the teacher makes us.
Science: I mostly just cry and make deals with Satan in order to pass. We have our own textbooks that we're allowed to write in, so I do go through and highlight all the important information and I even do the ridiculously long study guides. My biology class makes me want to cry, though. Our teacher is kind of overbearing. I was so grateful that I actually made a B first semester fml
I really want to learn different ways that everybody studies and takes notes. It's interesting what works for different people. -
sucking cock for math
counting empty bongs for english or art classes
being a corrupt politician in history
getting anally ripped open by chemically composed anal beads in chemistry -
and what's the point?
it's not like people here study
we are l going to work at McDonald's all our lives because we are low middle class a--holes that managed to get internet for god knows why -
wait no
sucking cock and making equations out of semen for algebra
being a corrupt politician in history
counting empty bongs for chemistry (and art classes hahaha yeah I am so hilarious and original)
getting anally raped by anal beads with grammatical rules and subjects engrained on every bead in english -
For math: I literally write everything the teacher says down, and copy everything onto my notes, I use different colored pens instead of high liters, though.
ROTC and every other subject:
I only jot down vocab and things the teacher says are important. Usually only use pencil and star or bubble around stuff. -
Oh and for studying
I use flash cards for every f---ing subject (formulas, vocab, characters, etc) and then repeatedly write things onto paper because repeatedly writing things helps them stick to my mind. O.O (sentences, sayings) -
flash cards are amazing tbh

i ... don't study rip
sometimes if i really have to because my ass is grass if i don't or if it's required, i do the study guides and review packets the teacher gives us
if they let us use some sort of cheat sheet to remember formulas or something i always utilize that
most of my studying is memorization-based and i usually do it last minute haha, -
Using my classes as an example:
AP English and Composition: I take very short hand notes as I have a fair understanding of most subject material. If Im feeling off about one, I write examples and add more info Usually Cornell note taking for this class.
AP Psychology: We make outlines and do in-class notes, so for my homework outlines, I organize through headings and subheadings, the vocabulary and important information going under each one with bullet points. Roman numerals are a pain, so why do it?
US History 2: I take Cornell notes just like I do in AP English. It is very effective for taking notes in a history class. I also use highlighters to connect people and events.
AP Probability and Statistics: I usually take down defintions and equations, highlight what I think I won't remember, and then provide myself an easy, moderate, and difficult example for each equation.
Spanish 3: Vocabulary, conguation equations, and exercises from a workbook are all in my Spanish notebook. Otherwise, I would not know anything. I'm very visually based in Spanish and language learning.
Environmental Science: We don't usually takes notes, but when we do, it's usually vocabulary from the book. With vocab, I add important bullet points about the chapter. If we do in class notes, I expand upon the notes that I already have.
For studying, as research shows, I utilize a method of rehearsal and the spacing effect so that I can recall the information both in short term and in long term. The spacing effect is when you study the information over a period of time, usually around the same time. Also, for effective recall and TRUE learning, it's wise to look at things that you got wrong on homework, classwork, quizzes, and tests and to correct them. Then test yourself again.
That's what I do, and I find it all very effective. -
I used to hate studying. I hated it with a passion. Surprisingly, I made it to high school.
English III Honors: With this class, it honestly depends on what we're studying at the time. If we are reading a book, I'll jot down Spark Notes as I read. (I usually write them on a sticky note). If it's on PowerPoint's in English, I'll write the important details in bullet form.
Math III Honors: Our teacher makes us write down everything word for word, so that explains it. It gets very tiresome.
Spanish: For this class, I do everything completely different. I will take down notes word for word, then when I go back to study I highlight what's important or what the teacher says we need to study up on.
Art: For this class I like to write my notes in paragraph form. There will be few times I'll write with bullets or any other note taking type in this class. I don't know why, but I like paragraph form. XD -
I don't like Cornell notes because I don't like drawing the lines
