I'm a little skeptical of them. It's personal experience, so it isn't something that could really be factually proven and it's most likely just empirical vision of the person that underwent a near death experience.
I don't want to go to in depth with my perspective, but I was wondering if anyone here thinks they are legit or even know people or an individual person that claims they have experienced a moment of an NDE. -
I have an aunt that had one. She helped to build a house and this glass wall fell. It didn't hit her, because she jumped to the ground on her belly. However, the glass wall almost smashed her in. It was very heavy too. It landed like two inches above her from her body.

I can't write them off..

I don't know anyone personally who has had one (that I know of). I'm not so sure I believe them either. According to Wikipedia, "neuroscience research considers NDEs to be caused by a hallucinatory state." Or something like that.
Then again, I believe in God. Who am I to limit what he does in certain situations. But I don't believe in that "straight to heaven straight to hell" belief held by most Christians. I believe when we die, we are dead until the Second Coming, and we'll be ressurected in the order according to Revelations. -
I have had one actually somewhat recently believe it or not. But about a month ago I went on a hiking trip in the Sierras, and though the week i spent there was generally fine besides the constant headache and stomach problems. But on the actually hike, it was 3 miles up a mountain so it was pretty tiring, now up went fine but coming down i was pretty tired so wasn't really paying attention to what i was doing, and so i was walking down and a the rock i was on slid and i almost fell off the mountain, but fortunately i hit a tree and didn't fall off and die.

Okay, if we're talking about experiences where we've almost died, then I know people who have had those, including myself. But as for near death experiences where someone experiences being out-of-body and seeing a "bright light", nope.
