The idea that people can't self-diagnose is really stupid. It's easy to say that when you have access to professionals, but when you don't have the money or you're dependent on people who don't believe there's a problem or just don't want to expend the effort or spend the money, self-diagnosis is the only option. It may not be formally recognized yet, but studies are being conducted and because it's clearly not a problem that the average person experiences and does in fact hinder ones ability to function, I have confidence it will be soon.
She didn't ask for professional help. She asked for thoughts. No one said that she's here for medical help. -

Just dropping in on the subject of her opening this thread up to opinions...
It's implied in the nature of the post that she intended to welcome constructive views. If I were to say something like, "I'd like some dating advice for this girl I'm interested in," and someone responded with, "How about you just date me instead and start off our relationship by sucking my d---," it would be relevant, but not constructive. Or polite, for that matter.
Just because an opinion could technically fit within the subject doesn't mean it's helpful or necessary. -
Why is everyone assuming I was trying to be rude?

I think that, if the disorder isn't a huge problem that puts anyone in danger, you should just disregard it and live, as a person. Let people be people. It seems that society these days has become completely dependent on labels. I just don't believe in that. I think labels are f---ing stupid and I just thought I'd express my opinion. I didn't want to start any of this s---. Who even has the energy for that?

I respect that you weren't trying to be mean, but a lot of people take comfort in having terms to describe what they're going through. It makes it easy to communicate it to others, and with a common phrase that everyone knows, it helps to find other people that can relate. Anyway, the thing with this is that it actually can be a huge problem. I'd like to continue this conversation with you over Messenger, if that's alright.

I guess.
