Thread Topic: Is there any reliable way of diagnosing mental illness
-
I know there's a lot wrong with me, but my mother has insisted since I was in sixth grade, in spite of a diagnosis from a psychiatrist, that it's in my head and that I'm only convincing myself that there's something wrong. I need to know what this is. I need to put a name to it.

You're a sociopath.

A+
Very helpful. -
Just kidding. Just take a test online.
-
Online tests aren't all reliable.
-
Online tests - not like on here but professional ones, but you'd probably have to search for specific a diagnosis. I don't know if a general one would exist

I've taken a few. They've all said things such as depression and anxiety, both of which I've been previously diagnosed with. I need more than that, though. My mother will not take me to see anyone. I intend to go see someone when I have the money, but I don't want to go unless I'm sure there's something to be done about this.

bump because there's literally only one relevant thread on this board right now and even bumping this one right now is going to push it off the first page
good work kids
anyway yes still looking for help here -
Disappointing. Not about your problem, it's that this thread was almost bumped down to the bottom in 20 hours. That was pretty fast.
About that. I don't know if this may work, but you can use Yahoo Answers. Just sign up for Yahoo, and then go to Yahoo Answers, then post a question there, explaining your situation. There are actually a ton of people who have reliable sources and can help you there, and even people with experience and people who are doctors, etc. and that's why I go there a whole lot. -
I use yahoo answers occasionally, you do get a lot of good answers but I find there can be one or two who judge you or give careless answers, so bear that in mind.
-
What I do is to type some of my symptoms in google and then look for answers in reliable websites like psychologytoday.com. that website is pretty good, actual therapists and psychologists write the stuff in it.

Well Wisher NewbieIf only you can wait for two more months, I'll be in a higher grade. I have opted psychology as a subject, and the higher grade has chapters based on psychological disorders. Then maybe I can help you.
The best way to be normal is to think you are normal. If you have insomnia, just clear it of your mind. If depressed, engage in some creative work, just to keep your mind away. Don't think that 'OMG I'm depressed'. Be like 'Yeah, I've got some problems. I bet others have got worse than mine.'
This should help.
