I know it seems petty but this was actually a hard decision for me to make. I've had so many people tell me that I'm worthless except for my appearance.. So many have told me that I'm talentless and the only career I could ever get is a model. I never thought (and still don't think) I'm pretty but so many people have told me that that's the only good thing about me.
And in society women are just generally taught that they're not supposed to look like humans. I remember flipping through fashion magazines when I was younger, thinking that photoshopped models were what women actually looked like. I thought there was something wrong with me. I begged my mom to let me buy makeup..
Which is really nothing but items marketed toward women them to make them look fake. The more women wear it, the more society thinks that's how they're supposed to look. It's just supporting the idea that women are supposed to look this way and the corporations that make money off of these societal expectations.
I'm just not afraid to look like a human anymore.
(P.S. This has nothing to do with feminism so if any of you little f---ers bring that up, I will forget all of my anti-violence morals for 5 seconds to punch you in the face. You're not any less of a feminist for wearing makeup or for not wearing it, you're only less of a feminist for shaming women who do or don't. It's completely your choice and the point of this wasn't to shame women who wear it, as I clearly understand why they do.) -
