I'm not going to call you names or pretend to not be one of you. I am one of you. I am on GTQ too. Read the list below. I will add to it over several posts, feel free to add your own advice. Some of these are directed primarily towards men, but they can still be applied to anyone. I didn't write all of these. It was an effort from various people. Pick at least one thing on this list and start doing it TODAY. Don't put it off, the sooner you start, the sooner it becomes habit and the easier it is to keep up.
1. Girls prefer side-to-side communication when they're attracted to guys. Guys prefer face-to-face when they're attracted to a girl. Use this to your advantage.
2. Clothes make the man. Get at least one pair of shoes you are very proud of. Break the bank, it's a single pair of shoes. Wear them on special occasions to make you feel badass. Also get a new T-shirt you really like once every two months; wearing clothes you like makes you confident.
3. If you're currently single, date girls (or guys) you aren't necessarily in "love" with. Generally you'll be more confident and happier than if you're always nervous.
4. Physical exertion will catalyze release of happiness endorphins in your brain. Go for a 20 minute jog every day, or work out for at least an hour two or three days a week.
5. Don't be a poser. Avoid being one of those dudes who puts a surfboard on top of their car, but never surfs. Or a dude with a powder coated fixed gear bike and a messenger bag, but was never a messenger. Live the life. Earn your bona fides.
6. Realize that love is a numbers game. Guys fall in love easily. You're going to see some girls and feel like you'll die if you don't get her. If she rejects you, move on to the next one. It's her loss.
7. Don't cheat on your wife/girlfriend. It's humiliating to yourself and them. You risk having transgressions come back to her or her friends as well as yourself.
8. When engaged in a conversation, maintain eye contact. This doesn't mean that you should be looking directly at the person's eyes at all times, but come back to them every few seconds. This shows that you are a confident and honest person. if the person is too close, pick one eye and stick to it.
9. When talking to a girl you are interested in, look at the way she moves, her tone of voice, eye contact, and her proximity to you. If you think she will be receptive, touch her ever so lightly on the arm and get into her personal space. Studies have shown people are 300% more likely to remember vital details of a conversation if physical touch is employed.
10. When striking up conversations with a girl you like, avoid common topics (what do you study, where do you live, where do you work...) at least until later. You aren't having a conversation with a girl if there isn't an emotional component somehow involved. Remember, talk WITH girls, not at girls.
11. STAND UP STRAIGHT. No one is attracted to someone who slouches when they walk and stares at their feet. Make eye contact with people. -
12. First few days of classes, don't wear headphones. If you do, people won't talk to you. If you leave the headphones at home then you can start new conversations and make new friends. (Useful for college)
13. Meet the friends of your friends. This is how you expand your social group. It can sometimes be hard to make friends with complete strangers, so hang out with your friends and their friends. They will know you are acceptable because you have a mutual friend.
14. You damn well better go out at least twice a month. I don't care if it's just to a friends house or if it's to a huge nightclub. Get out of the house, you will meet new people.
15. If you do just go to a friends house, try to have more than just you two there. Invite a few people, watch a movie, party, SOMETHING. -

You gave me the best idea of how to get people to stay the hell away from me in school! I'll just bring my headphones!
Thanks, bob! -
If it keeps people the hell away from you, I'm glad I could help.

*Smiles and puts in headphones with CHRISTIAN MUSIC*

Hey there's an emoticon Hehe

You know, that would have been clever if I didn't listen to a lot of Christian music myself. My favorite musical is about the crucifixion.

You listen to Christian music????
YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
*Runs and tackles you then apologizes and helps you up and hugs you* -
*punches you before you get to me*
UNHAND ME YOU FILTHY PLEBEIAN! -
Jeez....
Do you listen to Christian music or not? -
Do you know why I listen to some Christian music? Because it takes intellect to enjoy a story without accepting it as real.
The music is pretty. The art work is very nice. But the lyrics and context are dodgy. Don't get your hopes up you f---. -

Jesus Christ Super Star is a musical about the crucifixion. I like the story and the songs. I don't accept them as historical fact.
Billy Joel is an oldies singer who sometimes threw in Christian undertones in to his music. The songs are catchy and most of them are good. I can say that without accepting the lyrics as true.
Insane Clown Posse is hard core rap/alternative group. They dedicated an entire series to human flaws and finding redemption through God. I have all the CD's because some of the songs are decent and it's humorous. I do not feel the need to redeem myself.
