  Yeah my mom kinda does that, since I like to stay home she thinks I should make more friends and go out more. What I like to say back though is 'Would you rather have me partying and getting drunk than staying at home?'

  Neither of my parents ever really forced me to make friends, but my mom is pretty pushy about me trying to get involved with stuff outside of classes. Parents mean well, they just want what is best for you. People used to make me uncomfortable too, they still kind of do. I basically need to engage with people on my own terms. I don't like it when people I don't know or like invade my dorm room, that gets really annoying. Try to find a setting that you feel comfortable in.
