Thread Topic: Was Obama qualified to become President?
-
The Godfather NewbieNOTE: Hikaru Katsu may only join as long as he keeps topic, and doesn't start talking smack about politics. Sorry, but this is for a mature debate, and others, go ahead and call this immature other people, frankly, I could care less.
FACT:
-He had 3 years in congress, 1 1/2 running for President
-Voted present over 1,000 times in congress, instead of an opinion -
yea
-
The Godfather NewbieEmmajamme- I'd hate to come off aggressive, but yet again it's politics: Could you please give reasons why McCain or Palin were not qualified?
-
Hikaru doesn't really care, he'll keep posting anyway.
-
The Godfather NewbieYeah that sounds like him.
-
tongue NewbieMcCain as far as credentials go was qualified, but as I explained in another forum, people with alot of qualification in the Bush administration, namely Cheney and Rumsfeld, have been terrible for our country.
As for Palin, I've already said this as well- Palin was mayor of town the size of the bleachers at Fenway Park(in population) and ran a state for 2 years with less people than 19 American cities. There is no way that you can call Obama unqualified and say Palin is qualified. -
tongue NewbieSomething else I've said before as well is that this whole qualifications argument is outdated. Obama has a year of experience in the White House, which is more than Palin can say.
-
I'm not from America so I don't give a f---.
-
I don't wanna sound racist or anything like that, but I think a lot of people only voted for obama because he was black. You americans have had it in your thoughts all this time, someone had to say it, but what's sad is that it had to be a foreiner.
-
Yeah, Americans voted for Obama to not seem reacist.
-
Peter Principle NoviceObama voted present while in the Illinois state senate. There is no such thing in the US senate. He did so 129 times in his eight years there, not over 1,000 times. In Illinois, voting present is an option when you want to keep the debate going instead of voting yes or no. Most people who served in the Illinois senate will have voted present at one time or another. It's pretty much a non-issue.
-
I didn't get most of what you just said, and why should I? I don't give a f--- about your crappy country! Wait, where did that come from????
-
The Godfather NewbieFor once I agree with Hikaru. Nice job.
-
The Godfather NewbiePlease check your source Peter. Even my far left Socialist history teacher in High School knows he did so over 1,000 times.
-
tongue NewbieJesse Jackson's black, but he didn't become president.
