Thread Topic: What is your most "controversial" opinion?

As stated in the subtitle- no derailing from the initial thread question. As in, I don't want to see a billion pages worth of back and fourth on something or random nonsense lmao.
Keep it mature, keep it on topic.
If you want a long and drawn out debate on something, please create a new thread instead
Ta :) let's see how brave yall are -
You know I have quite a few opinions that people might find controversial but the one I get into the most debates over has to be stratified IQ.
many people think that intelligence quotients hold no merit and don't accurately predict how smart someone is. I happen to disagree since it merely measures certain types of intelligence that are very correlated to how smart an individual is. It doesn't measure all forms of intelligence, but I happen to think that the kinds of intelligences it does measure are very objective and fair, and at the very least correlate to your actual intelligence.
Where a lot of people take issue with it is that they thing IQ tests are racist. This is because the research that's been done on various groups shows disparities on standard IQ ranges based on what region you are in or race you are.
The research that has been done shows that Asian and Jewish people tend to do the best on IQ tests, with Caucasian and Hispanic people in the middle, and Black people tending to do the worst.
Once you start getting into the debates on it things get really messy, with many people claiming it's been debunked or that it's racist, and others claiming it's just an uncomfortable truth.
I personally don't believe either of those. I genuinely do think that IQ tests are fair and the disparities are based off cultural and historical differences. I don't think that certain races are doomed to be less intelligent than others, merely that history has dealt out cards that might influence the scores, such as the geological position of Africa making it harder for them to advance, or how many Asian cultures put a much heavier influence on education than other cultures do.
My opinion on it is that even if there is a grain of truth to it, all that means is that we should use that information to work harder to even the gaps that might be inherently afflicting certain groups. I think that if everyone could choose for themselves we'd all chose to be smart so we just need to make sure we're creating equal access to education and good options for people to live and create the lives they want for themselves.
I don't think it means that all Asians are smart or all black people are dumb, especially since the point difference really isn't all that great in the findings. I think every human has equal potential to use their mind to the best of it's ability and we should use IQ tests as a tool to help all and locate geographical differences regardless of race and correct them. -
Tldr; if there are differences in the intelligence of different groups we should use that information for help them gain equal opportunity to learn and exercise critical thinking, and not just shut down the conversation because of semantics.
