That's a way bigger question to unpack than you might think. There's no one answer. First of all I'd start by saying your claim comes from bias. There are many types of statistical bias that I'd say it falls into but in general what that means is that the claim is faulty because it makes an assumption based off your anecdotal experiences.
Kids do not "hate the news." Adults do not "love it." Those are both claims formed from confirmation bias. The trend may show that less kids watch news than adults, but that has more to do relevancy than it does anything else.
Age demographics play a part into what sorts of things are relevant to an individual. If you are twelve you won't care about the next tax policies because they won't affect you. Conversely, if you are an adult you probably won't care as much about what Logan Paul did last week. It's all about your relevant experiences.
If you just mean that younger people are more disenfranchised with traditional news, that is partly because older people have a nostalgia for traditional news since they were raised with it. Younger people have a different culture and as with every generation, different values. Younger people have no nostalgia for traditional news and are able to view it in a more transparent nature. -
Because it's boring

Kids right now:
Yes, it's boring.
Also, they are recording people suffer just for attention. And politics? Ugh, don't even make me. All they talk about is politics 24/7. TWENTY FOUR SEVEN. Ohmigosh, shaking my head right now at why adults, especially dads, like the news so much... -
I've always been interested in world news. Even when I was like 7. Though it was harder for me to keep up then because I simply didn't understand a fair chunk of the concepts they discussed.

That's an overused stereotype... I get why you are confused because, it's not true! Children often have even more empathy than adults, so for many it is often distressing to watch or read the news. Many younger (ten and below) just don't get the importance of it yet. However, look 11-17 and you get climate activists, campaigners... As young as twelve and thirteen children can get completely invested in it. Completely absorbed. I remember being mad at my parents because they thought I wanted to watch the news as an excuse to stay up late... Harmful stereotypes like these being passed around, although sometimes true... Can really deteriorate a child's mental health, although as a parent, anyone should DEFINITELY keep an eye on their kid when watching. Especially tweens, or young teens and "double especially" if you know there has been rape or murder recently. But, let them watch stuff about refugees and the downfall of BJ. Don't make them feel irritated by your presence.
-
I mean, if you're from the UK. But people from outside the UK, on behalf of everyone else, you are MOST WELCOME to make fun of BJ alongside us.
-
Because news were made by the adults themselves. It's mainly gossip. The news is gossip.
-
Developmentally speaking, and to put it simply, young children can't grasp those concepts yet. Blah blah blah cognitive development blah blah blah
-
I like the news and I am only 14 years old
