oh i have, again i dont mean to sound rude and i know im bad at wording things but maybe just to see my angle

I see your point about taxing the higher bb45.
But then I pose you this question, what is stopping the multi-billion dollar companies to from giving their employees a liveable wage. Minimum wage was supposed to be the bare minimum someone needs to survive. As a person who has worked at four different jobs, I can tell you, $7.25 is not livible. You can't pay rent, let alone anything else.
I am lucky to have my own place. It's not the best, but to give you a rough estimate
Rent: $500 /month (really good for the area I'm in)
Lights: $200 /month
Groceries: $170 /month (The bare minimum for two people and three pets)
^^This doesn't even cover medical expenses (if needed), or anything extra. I caught it lucky in living circumstances, but rent for most
Minimum wage for a part time worker only comes up to around $690 (in my state) after taxes are taken out. So, explain to me why these huge companies can't at least raise the wage to $9 /hour. Roughly what a cashier makes at Walgreens anyway. Fast food companies, multi-billion dollar store chains? It's not that much of a raise, considering $15 /hour is what people want for a minimum wage. Why can't they at least raise it to nine? I know they have the extra money for it. -
$9 is more doable. $15 is pretty high...
Really hurting small businesses. But I think Amend 2 just passed didn't it? -
Okay, here’s my opinion on why raising the minimum wage is bad:
Like stated before by other users, some businesses (mainly the local, small businesses) can’t afford to pay all their employees $15/hr. In order for them to be able to do that, they are either going to have to lay off people, or raise their prices in order to make that much money. If they raise their prices, we’re going to start heading for inflation and then get another depression because our dollar will lose its value and won’t be worth much anymore.
As of right now, the minimum wage is dependent on where you live. In Wyoming, it’s like $7.25 or something, in Florida it’s like $8.50, and in California it’s $12. The minimum wage should be based upon where you live because the cost of living is different depending on where you live.
This is why I’m against raising taxes, even if it’s just on the rich:
Let’s say everyone pays 10% for taxes (this is just an example to make everything easier). That means that the richer you are, you are already paying more in taxes. If you make $10, you only have to pay $1 in taxes.
$100= $10 in taxes
$1,000= $100
$10,000= $1,000
$100,000= $10,000
Etc.
it’s not like everyone is paying $10 in taxes no matter the amount of money you make. It’s based on the percentage, and the rich are already paying more money in taxes -
well there are some jobs that are simply minimum wage jobs, you know
-
Bro you’re not looking at the bigger picture
That’s so freaking stupid.
You don’t have to agree with Biden. But if he wins- then I guess you’ll have to suck it up. Because if he does, you can’t go out and tell him not to. -
Biden isn’t gonna go say
“Oh, let’s increase minimum wage and forget about what happens afterwards”
Do you think anyone would do that? Maybe an idiot, but he’s obviously thought this through and it’s so stupid to say “PEOPLE ARE GONNA BE POOR”
Just do some research about the structure of the economy. And with Trump, he may be good for some businesses but he’s a lousy president. -
And if minimum wage goes up, money will change/shift in value and prices would go up with the minimum wage. Which means, that of companies are doing what they’re supposed to do — then they’ll make the money to pay their employees.
-
And if the companies aren’t doing well, then the whole business goes down.
Oh wow, how horrible. It might affect some people negatively, and it might make some people’s lives better. So I’m really sorry that it affects some people’s lives in a bad way, but you have to think of the good side. -
Trump stands for-
If you’re white and rich, you get loads of money
So what about the other people, hm? -
Exactly. With peace, nothing happens. We shouldn’t wish for peace, but we should wish for no violence.
I wanna keep going with that. Without peace, there’s no motivation to change or grow as a community. So while nothing’s necessarily getting worse, nothing is getting better either.
If you wish for total peace, you’re wishing for the country to just be completely neutral. Being neutral isn’t good in this situation. The USA needs to have a motivator, and with peace nothing’s gonna happen.
Just because it isn’t ‘violent,’ doesn’t mean it’s peaceful. -
So I don't know if this is true or not, but my parents told me that a bunch of what comes out of Harris's mouth is communism.
So imagine if Biden won, then later was deemed unfit for the role of President.
We'd have a communist president.
