I mean no disrespect or offense to anyone and simply want to understand the movement better and to know what you think.
What is the true purpose of Black Lives Matter? What is the goal that needs to be accomplished?
As far as I can tell, the only thing called for is to defund the police, but I fail to see how abolishing police will lead to positive change and improve the lives of black people. How would our country look without law enforcement ? And what will replace it?
Is Black Lives Matter really supporting black people or is it being used to promote the agendas of people in high places?
Is the Black Lives Matter movement really promoting love and equality or is it leading to bitterness and further division?
Since when did it become acceptable and admirable to destroy things, to mock people, and to condemn your own family if they are not in complete agreement?
How will this give black Americans better opportunities and a higher quality of life?
I'm all for justice and standing up for people but is this really the way to do it? Will this bring about positive change in the lives of Americans? Is this going to bring us together or tear us apart?
What does Black Lives Matter mean to you? -
They're fighting a battle that's already been won. Legally, they are equal. There are always going to be racists. That will never change no matter what anybody does.
These are not peaceful protests. These are riots. MLK and Rosa Parks and everybody else that fought for equality would never approve of this.
Honestly, I don't think this is even about black lives anymore. -
What is the true purpose of Black Lives Matter? What is the goal that needs to be accomplished?
The Black Lives Matter movement was created to show that; black lives matter. I feel like the movement name should be self explanatory. The goal for the movement is to have a judicial system and cop system that isn't corrupt. A system that doesn't put a target on someone based on skin color.
How would our country look without law enforcement ? And what will replace it?
First, no one is saying to take away law enforcement. This movement is saying that we need to REFORM it. Make it where innocent lives aren't lost. If you want cases to look up to prove my point; Treyvon Martin, Breonna Taylor and (most recently) George Floyd.
Is Black Lives Matter really supporting black people or is it being used to promote the agendas of people in high places?
It is being used to support the Black community. Changes have already been made and put into place. Laws have been enacted since this movement has happened.
Is the Black Lives Matter movement really promoting love and equality or is it leading to bitterness and further division?
The movement itself promotes live and equality. All of the peaceful protests have been nothing but that; peaceful. The only people who are causing a division are those who don't want to be unified.
Since when did it become acceptable and admirable to destroy things, to mock people, and to condemn your own family if they are not in complete agreement?
The protestors are not the ones destroying things. The rioters are. There has been photographed, and video evidence that the ones who startes the riots in Minneapolis were undercover cops. As for your family question, I haven't seen anyone condemn their own family. Now, calling family out for being racist and bigoted, absolutely. Rascism should not be tolerated in any shape or form.
I will say this, just because I haven't seen it, doesn't mean it isn't happening.
How will this give black Americans better opportunities and a higher quality of life?
I'm all for justice and standing up for people but is this really the way to do it?
This makes me think of every battle we have had in history. Boston Tea Party: Americans didn't like the reign of the British government so they destroyed one of the British' most valuable trade items. Dumped it straight into the ocean. Destroyed millions, if not billions of dollars worth of product.
Another exanple that I would like to give is the Stonewall Riots. If it wasn't for the events that occured on that particular day, the LGBT+ community would not have the rights they have today. We still have a long way to go, but we'll get there.
Will this bring about positive change in the lives of Americans? Is this going to bring us together or tear us apart?
It is already bringing in positive change. Laws are being changed as we sit here on our screens and tyoe this out. As for bringing people together, it has. But it has also pushed people farther apart. Nothing in this world will have everyone being unified, so you have to take the good with the bad.
What does Black Lives Matter mean to you?
It's a movement of people that want change. That want equality.
----------
Dragonsfire: Won how? Yes changes are being made, but nothing has been won. Not until all of the innocent lives that have been lost by brutality get justice.
The protests led by Dr. King were peaceful, but they turned brutal because of the police. Dr. King also got assasinated to sharing his ideals with the world. If his words were actually heard instead of falling upon deaf ears, he would be here today.
I think you both are getting rioters and portestors confused. They are not the same. -
Like I said, legally, they are equal to all. Racism will be there no matter what anybody says or does.
I'm sorry if you don't appreciate my bringing my Christian beliefs into this, but I!I'm doing it anyway.
"Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows." (Galatians 6:7)
“Those who plant injustice will harvest disaster. " (Probverbs 22:8)
"You have planted wickedness, you have reaped evil." (Hosea 10:13)
"They will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes." (Probverbs 1:31)
"As I have observed, those who plow evil and those who sow trouble reap it." ( Job 4:8)
“Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.'' (Galations 6:8)
I believe that they will get justice. Even if we never see it happen, it will happen. It already has for those in the past. It will happen for those in the future. It will happen for those now. -
And props for writing so much. It's kinda hard to write so much for me.
-
It shows that you're putting time and effort into it.

Not necessarily disagreeing but I'd like to make some points.
The Black Lives Matter movement was created to show that; black lives matter. I feel like the movement name should be self explanatory. The goal for the movement is to have a judicial system and cop system that isn't corrupt. A system that doesn't put a target on someone based on skin color.
The fact that it's named that proves nothing and shouldn't be used as a point. For example The People's Liberation Army has certainly not liberated the people.
First, no one is saying to take away law enforcement. This movement is saying that we need to REFORM it. Make it where innocent lives aren't lost. If you want cases to look up to prove my point; Treyvon Martin, Breonna Taylor and (most recently) George Floyd.
I would like to mention that I do wholeheartedly support police reform but saying that nobody is saying we should remove it entirely is just untrue. There's a substantial fraction of the movement that wants full removal of police.
I also think that calling the movement "black lives matter" instead of something like "black lives matter too" was a mistake. Lots of people have have taken it as "black lives matter more" because of the wording. Not saying they're right I'm just saying that different wording would have made some people, especially boomer people more on board with the movement -
dragonsfire: I would try to expand upon my ideas, but I am unsure how to expand without religious context; since that is what you provided. I do see your point though.
-----
Faceless Knight: I see your point as to why the name of the movement shouldn't be an example, but there really wasn't any other way for me to explain that.
As for police removal, I didn't know there were people who wanted to fully get rid of the police departments. If you don't mind showing me some sources for that, it would be greatly appreciated.
I understand your aspect with wording as well, and maybe "Black Lives Matter Too", should have been considered. I feel like this specific group of people is trying to make a point, and maybe some things could have been approached in a better manner. -
-
If I were coming into this with absolutely no knowledge, "Black Lives Matter Too" just sounds way better than "Black Lives Matter". The latter just feels automatically linked to the organization, rather than just proclaiming that black lives are important as well. It also feels super exclusive and gives off that us vs them feel.
Just random thoughts lol -
I personally just switch "Black Lives Matter" into "All Lives Matter", because both are true, but one is more inclusive.
-
all lives do matter but that wouldn't work as well for this movement because the movement is to show that black lives specifically have been ignored
-
I think what the Black Lives Matter thing is trying to say is that everyone is equal and no one is more or less important than another( idk I rarely watch the news )
