I understand that you may think it's your body your choice, but your body is not the one getting ripped into little pieces and thrown in the garbage. Even in the case of rape, Why should that child have to pay because of what that person did, why should that child never get to be born because of what the rapist did.
Abortion is murder -
Is a fetus alive? According to the biologist definition it has metabolism, the capacity for growth, movement and reproduction, therefore it is alive.
Is it human? It has human DNA that is distinct from the mother's, therefore it is a human organism.
Is it dead after the abortion? Yes, therefore you are killing a human.
Is it an intentional pre-mediated killing? Yes, therefore it is murder.
Anything else is just shifting the goalposts until you feel comfortable.
but a fetus has no conscience
What does a conscience look like? How do you measure conscience? Do newborn have conscience? Do coma patients have consciousness?
but a fetus cannot live outside the mother
Neither can a newborn live without its mother, does that make it OK to kill newborn?
but we have means of keeping newborn alive
And if we have machines to keep foeti alive it is all of the sudden murder to kill them? You make someone's humanity dependent on availability of technology? Does that mean that a kidney patient is no longer human when he is dependent on a machine and the machine is unavailable? -
Clearly most of society doesn't find it wrong as is it's so easily available and accepted. And you would think we were in quite an ethial place in time considering where we were 100's of years ago. But society can change its mind. It seems to be a gray area to most people.
The only thing I feel strongly about is the limit of 6 months should be lower because they can survive at 6 months and are so formed
