Which is harder for you? Acrylic, oil, or watercolor paint? And which do you like best?
For me, watercolors is a bit hard. Oil is neutral and acrylic is the easiest for me. I prefer acrylic because you can actually paint layers upon layers and when you mess up, all you have to do is cover it with the white paint. For watercolors, if I try putting another layer of color on top of another, it mixes and I get mad. .-. As for oil, it takes longer to dry.
Bulls---. Acrylic is dull and it sucks ass. Why did I say acrylic was better? Old me didn't know s---. You can also paint over and add tons of layers with oil paint. As for watercolors, it won't mix if it's dry. Gosh, I didn't know s---. It's not that hard.
Watercolor:
Pros:
-Dries up quick
-has tons of techniques
-mixes and blends in well
-paint dries up on palette but you can continue to use it because all you have to do is add water. Not as wasteful.
-comes off clothes
-easy clean up
Cons:
-can easily mess up if not careful with amounts of paint and water added onto paper
Acrylic
Pros:
-Dries up quick
-Can easily add layers
-easy blending
Cons:
-can be hard to come off clothes and/or it wont come off at all
-drying up fast causes the paint to go to waste (on palettes)
-can be flat and dull
Oil
Pros:
-beautiful and easy blending
-awesome techniques (especially with knife)
-tons of layers
-dries slowly and can be wet for weeks, so applying paint can still work especially if you want to still blend (can be a con)
-paint wont dry up and go to waste if left out for a few days. If it does dry up, all you gotta do it peel the dry surface off. Can be longer if you wrap it up.
-can be thinned with oil, linseed oil etc and can have this wet effect
Cons:
-won't come off clothes
-dries very slowly and can catch dust, dirt.. etc.. (can be a pro tho)
-messy
-hard to clean up
Ummmmm. Yeah. This is what I think. Watercolors and my personal best as of right now. Then oil. -
