Acirema is what is left of The United States of America. After World War III, the nation's remaining population banded together to form the new Republic of Acirema. In this new society, technology has taken over. Surgeries are performed ritually at the age of 18, correcting any psychological and physical flaws... Including emotions. There is a small group of people, The Resistance, who reside just outside the borders of Acirema. Behind the electrified fences, they plot to overthrow the current leader of Acirema and restore the land to its former glory. They oppose the operations. The group is made up of people from their teens to late twenties; all who had no say in the construction of the government. Those within the walls of Acirema don't realize that members of The Resistance are living side by side with them. A boy from The Resistance meets a girl inside the walls that has not been 'cured' yet. This story is about forbidden love.
