Sappine sat on her front porch, flute raised to her mouth. She blew lightly, and a string of notes came out of the other end. It was an odd tune. Not quite sad, not quite happy, and somehow easy to dance to.

Evan sat up high in a tree, watching the quiet world below. Though he could sense something was wrong. Very wrong. In the distance, the orange sky slowly turned purple.

Kate strolled down the street, her iPod blasting loudly in her ears. It had become a habit of hers to go on daily walks, just to see the neighborhood. Her iPod went dead, and she pushed it into her pocket. Beautiful music flooded her ears just then, and she followed the source until she saw a girl sitting on a porch, playing the flute. "That's really pretty," she said quietly.

He jumped down, landing on his feet. Following a melodic tune, down the paths.

Upon hearing a voice, she stopped playing and looked up. "Oh, um.......thanks."

Kate walked over to the girl with the flute. "You're welcome. My name's Kate, what's yours?"

"Sappine. Nice to meet you."

Evan approached two girls. "Lovely~" he muttered.

"Nice to meet you too." Kate looked up at a boy standing near them. She instantly closed up, like a turtle retreating into its shell.

"Hi." Sappine said, noticing Kate's slight change in posture and facial expression.

Evan stared blankly at Kate.
"Evan's the name. You are?" -
Kate stared at the ground. "...Kate," she said, her voice just a whisper.
