"Honey, I want what's best for you. He is not it." She said, calmed down. "As soon as he's better, he is gone."
-
"How do you know what's best for me?" I asked.
-
"Well I certainly know a bum off the street isnt the best."
Inside the room, Dylan lay face down on his bed, regretting letting his gaurd down -
"I love someone and you don't like them. You were allowed to marry someone, and they weren't rich or anything. Why can't I?" I sighed.

(I gotta go. Poor Dylan...)

Hello.
"Because Im your mother and you live under my roof."
"Im so sorry, Lilac." Dylan whispered to the pillow. -
I guess she'd won. Then I remembered something. I gave her my best 'I'm-sorry-and-embarrased-and-I-promise-this-won't-happen-again' smiles. "Sorry Mom. Let me go home and make you some tea?"
She loved it when I made her tea, for some reason. She wouldn't say no. "Sure," she said, and went into the room. I went down to the parking lot and got in my car. I drove it to my house. -
Dylan looked up as Lilac's mother entered the room.
"Im sorry. It'll never happen again, I swear." -
"You make sure of that," Mom said, sitting down in a chair and staring at Dylan disapprovingly.
I walked into my house and up to my bedroom. I'd only done this, what, twice? I pulled five leaves off of a plant in my bathroom. Supposedly they helped convince someone to do something. They worked. I went downstairs and started making a pot of tea, but the leaves I'd just picked were mixed with the normal tea leaves. -
Dylan stood up and walked over to her mother.
"I know you dont like me. Ill leave if you want me to." He said, hanging his head in defeat. -
"Hmph." She started reading a magazine that was resting on the table.
When the tea was done, which seemed like forever, I poured it into a thermos and drove back to the hospital. I went into the room. "Here Mom. I made the tea."
Mom took the tea, opened it, and took a sip. That was all I'd need. I took the thermos from her so she wouldn't drop it. -
Dylan's face brightened as Lilac walked into the room.
"Welcome back." He said with a coy smile. -
I grinned at Dylan, then set the thermos on the ground. I knelt on the ground and took my mom's face in my hands. Ignoring how guilty I felt, I continued. "Mom, you will be okay with Dylan living with. You will allow and support whatever we do."
She tried to nod a bit. "Okay," she said groggily.
"Now, you will sleep for a few moments to let these changes settle. When I saw 'awake', you will awake. Sleep." Mom's head dropped and her breathing slowed. I put the lid back on the thermos. I felt guilty, but it was the right thing to do.
