I'm not a guy, but I'm nosy. Who cares if you're laughed at? Peoples' opinions shouldn't matter to you. It's about what YOU want to do. If you want to date him, go ahead. If you don't, then don't. If he's not liked by many, and you like him, the dislike from others shouldn't matter. It's up to you. YOU need to decide.

Why does it matter what others think? I get made fun of every day for no reason during school. If you like him so much, then ask. If you get made fun of, so what? At least you can get a boyfriend.
And your friend should stop stalking him and go to talk to him. Once he notices, he's gonna think she's weird and, well, a stalker. No guy wants a stalker girlfriend. -
