"I'm guessing you haven't heard. A carousel will appear at midnight, and those who are outside near it will be drawn to it. Then they die on the ride. If they survive they're lucky."

Many of the small children sometimes watched the others through the fence. Some of them looked at the others with sympathy, others with satisfaction.

Gadviour and Fire sat beside each other on the ground, finishing each other's sentences, waving thier tails.

"Right. That's why it won't show up here. I have to be outside of the fence, then it'll show up." Akako glanced at some of the children.

Louise saw two young kids on the inside of the fence. They looked so innocent.

Gadviour asked sleepily "Remind me why we have to be in here?"
"Cause we're different"Fire spat, wolf tail puffed out angrily.
Gadviour nodded, and yawned catlike. -
Jed wasn't supposed to. It was unofficial, but everyone knew it. Don't go near the fence. Even the poor people who had to take the road near it to work were outcasts, and the ones who lived there; invisible. Probably for their own good though, lest violence overrun the haters. Yet still Jed went. Every day, on his bike, to the fence. There he would watch and watch for hours, just waiting to see what he'd been told: Others were dangerous. They were cannibals and were uncontrollable.
