"Well, at least it wasn't one of the preps this time. They seem extra moody today." Cassie laughed a little.

Lena chuckled a bit. "Prom's coming up. They're freaking out 'cause they haven't gotten a date yet."

"Sucks for them. Now I feel like laughing like Nelson at them."
She opened her locker and grabbed the needed books. -
"Same here. They're such low lifes..." She knew she shouldn't be talking, but Lena felt like she should make a leap while she had the chance.

"Yeah. They think they're at the top...But it's all in their messed up little world." Cassie smiled. She hasn't been able to find at least someone to talk to this well since fifth grade.

Lena smiled back. "My name's Lena," she said. "I guess that was a bit delayed..." she chuckled a bit.

"It's fine. I'm Cassie. The one who they consider the lowest of the low..."

"Good. So we're on the same page, then. You must've heard them talking about me from time to time. 'Freak Girl', 'Murderer', you name it."

"Yeah. I didn't really believe all I've heard. It's hard to trust what comes out of their mouths."

"Yeah. But the stuff about my dad... That's true."

"Wow...They should just forget all about it. So what if someone had a serial killer as a parent? Mine were murdered when I was in fifth grade."

Lena gasped. "Your last name... Is it Smith? Your parents were Richard and Delia Smith?"

"Yeah...Why?"

Lena looked at the ground. "My dad... he..."

"He what...?" Her eyes began to water up a bit.
