On of Xavier's aliases was literally "Christian".
Xavier's name comes from Francis Xavier. Nero, known for persecuting Christians, sees Xavier and Jeremiah as his enemies. Rafayel's name is a variation of Rafael, who is also an archangel. I beleive Nero also has something against him. Like, I'm really getting into this. The lore behind the game is insanely good. -
