It's not cool to mock someone else's typing style just because you don't personally type that way. Not everyone online is a native English speaker. A lot of other languages follow different rules for grammar and structure. Not to mention, for some people with learning difficulties, such as Dyslexia; Typing This Way Can Make The Words Stand Out More.
I appreciate that you all were trying to have a bit of fun, and yes this user is likely a joke account or maybe even is a bot, but not everyone who types that way would be.
Can you imagine coming online one day, and seeing your friends talking about your typing style in that manner? It wouldn't be nice. So I'd suggest maybe taking that into account next time.
German speakers for example will often structure a sentence in that way, when speaking in English. As someone whose first language is not English, its disheartening to see some people I consider friends mocking someone whose likley not a native English speaker.
It's not 2015 GTQ anymore. It's not alright to mock people for how they type. I'm sure you all have typing quirks that aren't someone else's norm. So please try to have more empathy and respect for your fellow users jn this regard.
[[ I say this as someone who used to mock other people's typing style to make myself feel better about my own. So I've been on both sides.]]
And again this is not an angry post, nor a call out. I merely aim to educate. -
Also, not to harp on and on or lecture anybody. But it's kind of ableist to call someone a robot because they may have an awkward word flow, or odd typing style. Comparing humans to robots isn't chill.
This isn't 2012, have some empathy.
They're asking about tracking down lost media, not posting anything against forum rules. They're sticking to a single thread, so honestly what's the issue?
If someone can explain to me their genuine concerns over this I'll retract my statements and apologise sincerely. But until then, I'm going to be rather firm on my stance that mocking another's typing style can be either xenophobic [ I think is the term], or Abelist. Depending on why they type like that.
It's also just really mean. /nm -
Like I'll fully admit that when j was active on here I was an absolute bully, and it's mortifying to think back on how I was. Which is exactly why I'm bringing this up. I'm not wanting to shame any of yous, or make you feel lesser. But I just want to place emphasis on how normalising mocking people for not fitting into your mold is only going to breed the same environment on here that many of us suffered from, and grew into.
Do you older users remember how normalised it was for older teens to tell children to kill themselves? Or to twar down their writing, their singing, their artistic expressions? That's the kind of environment that mindset breeds. -
Remember. The biggest rule for the forums [ Outside the actual rules.] has always been Don't Feed The Trolls. If you want them to go away, ignore them. If it's offensive or hurtful, go to the mods.
But bullying and harassing someone for joking around makes us just as bad as Harmful trolls. Like, anybody remember Le1f? Le1f was a troll but was often involved in positive ways on the site, and yeah sometimes he was an absolute jerk, but he was often times funny and a minor nuisance at worst.
Even if someone's odd or, could be perceived as weird. They still have feelings.
Treat others the way you wish to be treated, love thy neighbour and all that. -

after reading this reminder, I fully agree. i agree that, it's not cool to mock, poke fun at, or ridicule anyone for any reason whatsoever.
i'm sorry if my actions have caused any discomfort for anyone or made anyone upset. -
I honestly thought the account was a joke, at first, but I should've considered that they might not be familiar with English, could be dyslexic, or just are comfortable typing that way. I apologize for making fun of them and anyone else I offended by mocking their typing style.
-
^ Me too. I was initially genuinely concerned they were some kind of troll or joke.
-
^Oof yeah
I read this chat before and just didn't know how to respond. All that's been said is fair points, so sorry for sounding insensitive and like a jerk -
I appreciate everyone's responses /gen
I didn't think any of you were being malicious, and I totally get it. But I am very glad that you see how it could be interpretated as bullying. /gen
