I groaned and pouted as Jane dragged me down the hallway, towards the unexpected. I had dreaded this moment since the day i had a crush on David, and as my mind struggled to come up with excuses, i wondered why i had agreed to meeting him in the first place.
'Can't we do this later? I mean if he likes me, he'll probably say it, right?' I said as we approached, and i could make him out from the group of students he was talking to, a cute smile on his features.
Jane frowned and stopped, rolling her eyes.
'This is your moment girl, look you gotta open up to him. He's probably as shy as you are about this. Just tell him you like him and wanna be friends. Got it?' She said, playfully giving me a nudge on my shoulder. I felt confident enough, so i began to walk towards him. I heard Jane chuckle.
As usual, there he was discussing periodic tables with his friends. He stopped when he saw me and turned around, running a hand through his dark gold hair as his face lit up.
'Hello Vivian, what's up?' he said.
'Umm can we talk for a sec?' i replied, too shy to meet his eyes.
'Sure, anything?' he said, handing a book over to his friend Charlie as he and Benny walked off, a knowing look on their faces.
'David', i began, talking a deep breath. I finally summoned courage to look into his eyes as i said the next words.
'I love you David'
The words came right out before i could get a hold of them. There. I had said it. I had finally confessed to my crush.
I closed my eyes shut as nervousness hit me at that moment, holding my breath for what would come next. I finally opened my eyes, letting it all out.
'I really like you David and i want us to be friends?' I said.
The look in his eyes was anything but what i had imagined. He clearly wasn't expecting what i had just said.
' And why anyone like a girl like you, Vivian? You're such a loser,' he said, letting out a laugh. His words pierced through me, ringing in my ears. I felt hurt by his words, i felt stupid at that moment.
'David-'
Just then, a girl named Stacey walked over and placed an arm over his shoulder, which only made me feel like melting at that moment. Stacey was the popular girl in the school and to think she was with David was totally unbelievable. She never hung out with anyone unless she gained from them.
'Hey Davy lets go, we have band practice today' she said, eying me and pulling him away, giving me a wicked grin as they walked away.
Why would anyone like a girl like you?
I was such an idiot thinking he was what he seemed. His words kept ringing in my head.
Jane was right there to hold me as the tears flowed freely from my eyes. I felt humiliated. I felt betrayed.
'He's such a jerk, that idiot doesn't deserve you' she said defensively as i leaned on her.
'Stop crying, Vivy get over yourself. There's tons of boys in Swellview High, i'm sure one of them's right for you' she said.
As we walked home down 5th street, we talked about alot of things. Actually, Jane did more of the talking, and i got to know about a new icecream flavor she had found, along with a rich student that would be attending our school the next day.
'He's super cute and his dad is a huge celebrity' she said as we walked. I wasn't interested, but little did i know that i was in for a lot of drama the next day.

Charlie landed hard on the cold stone, the warm breeze outside the arcade hitting him across the face as he felt something break under his jeans. He had never imagined that he'd get caught, or the consequences of it. But as the shadows of Xaiver and his gang came closer, he knew that whatever came next would never be good.
'Please-' Charlie began as they finally reached where he was. Their fists were clenched, anger in their eyes. There was no use running anyway now. His legs were too tired to do so.
Xavier kneeled right next to him and smacked him across the face then grabbing his hoodie and pulling him closer and Charlie could feel his awful breathing.
'Where is my money, idiot. I want my money kid,' he said, impatient. His gang had their fists balled, and a wicked smile on their faces as if they knew what was coming.
Charlie didn't know where to begin. He was practically finished. His brain struggled to find an answer, but the lights flashing back at the arcade onlh seemed to dull his senses. How could he explain he had bet all the money he didn't have on the last game?
'Hey stupid, over here!' A familiar voice called out.
