It's 4 a.m. Sleepless, I resign myself to the living room sofa. I am restless, but find peace at least as I turn to my side and take in the sights of what I call my home. I lift my tired eyes to see lines of light peeking from between my window blinds. The rays of light arrange themselves in stripes on the wall. It reminds me.
Ten years ago, another wall, another time. Ground shakes as a car thunders past. I reach my hand out into the dark and admire how the beams of light curve around its shape.
Sometimes I look out the window in awe. The streetlights draw me like a junebug. I long to free myself from the chains of this bed, from the sour stench of this room.
Ten years later. I'm free. I'm safe. And yet, I reach my hand out the same way, observing the familiar lines making waves on my skin.
Nothing more to say
