Thread Topic: Tone Indicators
-
Tone indicators are pieces of text placed at the end of a statement to indicate the writer's intention.
These are helpful specifically to neurodivergent people who have trouble discerning tone through text, but may also be helpful to others.
Usage of these indicators is by no means required, but this thread serves as a way to translate what the tone indicators mean, should you either see them out in the wild or decide to use them yourself. :)
This is not a complete list, so if you know of any other tone indicators not listed here, please share below! /gen -
Thank you /th

A popular alternative to using /gen for a genuine question is /genq !
-
^if you're using indicators with me please use /genq for me because my brain always translates gen to general which takes away from the sincerity of what you're saying.
-
I don't know how to solve that issue for me if it's not a question, but yeah.
-
You can always write out the whole word if you're worried about meaning being misunderstood! Fpr example, /genuine instead of /gen. I often do that but did not think to this time! Thank you for the reminder :)

I personally don't use tone indicators, I just meant if someone's talking to me and is using them.
