This is absolutely deviating.. I can't believe that that's legal. It started with a post saying they got paid $3 an hour, so I looked it up and to my dismay that was an generous estimate with some states allowing them to be paid as little as 22¢.
I just wanted to share for anyone who didn't know . I really hope that that gets changed soon. I can't wait to see more sustainable and healthy business practices not just at goodwill but everywhere. It's disgusting that they take advantage of people like that. -
Also they only donate 12.5% of their profit to charity. Most of their money goes to the higher ups :(
-
Goodwill isn't a volunteer job?
-
you do get paid to work there, just not a living wage.
Since they're considered an "non-profit' they get away with paying way less than minimum wage though.
I think its super dishonest though since they donate way less than even half of their profit. -
They also pride themselves on having "career opportunities" and pander to underprivileged people to get them to work for them.
-
Well, I'm not going to defend their reasoning because they have none, at this point.
-
That is so disgusting
-
gross… why do they gotta be like this?
