I hate war. Why must mortals fight. Or even immortals? What's the point? I'd rather sleep....

There's no point. That's both the most beautiful and terrifying thing about this world. The only thing that remains constant is energy, so maybe the point is to make sure your energy is good? Or at the very least, the energy you require yourself to be.
